SMB1968 Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 I've been supplementing my Wadada Leo Smith deep dive by mixing in a similar deep dive of Art Farmer. The latter is proving to be a guy whose playing I really enjoy, but I'm not so keen on most of his musical settings (my sweet spot is on the slightly freer end of things). Regardless, I'm pretty sure I never need to hear this one again. Quote
jazzbo Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 (edited) The cold is back and settled in. 12 degrees! About 2 inches of snow yesterday. Should just make it above freezing today. Ah well. It’s March in NE Ohio. Starting off with Charles Mingus" The Clown" Analogue Productions SACD. “All those greens, all those yelllows, all those oranges. . . they weren’t quite as bright as they used to be.” I can relate! Followed by this great sounding disc. Stanley Turrentine with The 3 Sounds “Blue Hour” Blue Note Japan 24 Bit by RVG lp facsimile cd Edited March 18 by jazzbo Quote

Simon8 Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 (There's a big band show every Tuesday night at a local jazz club here in Montreal: they started the second set with the Gil Evans arrangement of "St. Louis Blues", then played a few from "The Indivudualism of G.E." - "Las Vegas Tango" and "Spoonful". Sounded great) Quote
