This does not sound very appetising.

I wasn’t sure, but I get curious when I hear about these hybrid styles.
Afterwards, I was so delighted that I’m devoting a segment to it
on an upcoming show.

Too right. I know that I have bought a hit when it gets played through repeatedly without interruption.

The great thing is that this Arkestra recording is both accessible and adventurous. For the first time also I can see a very direct link between Tapscott’s work and that of Tadd Dameron - both ‘arranger’s piano’ and memorable arrangements by a band with unusual instrumentation that sounds bigger than it really is. Helped along by the fact that he covers ‘If You Could See Me Now’ on CD2, a really fine trio performance.

Noticed that Tapscott is credited as playing ‘spinet piano’. When I saw that I had a vision of an 18th Century plucked instrument a la Mozart, which made no sense. I see now though that in the US, spinet pianos refer to a type of small upright.

Sounds great on this rainy Sunday afternoon.  This series is by FAR my favorite Braxton.  Didn't know he had it in him.  And the rest of the quartet (Kevin O'Neil-G, Andy Eulau-B, Kevin Norton-D)  is outstanding, though previously unknown to me.

Bill Evans “Treasures” Elemental Records 2 cd set, cd 1

Solo, trio and with orchestra–one of the best of the series of Evans material Zev Feldman has brought forward.
