Disc 2.

Such a great set. Desert island material for me. Wish mosaic would put out more unreleased treasures like this.

"The Complete Recordings of T-Bone Walker 1940-1954" Mosaic Records, cd II

I forgot how fantastic the remastering is on this set--T-Bone's guitar sounds like it is coming from an amp in my room. (There is a great guitar amp in my room, which helps the illusion.)

One of the first Ellington record sets I bought after realizing how much Miles Davis admired him. From 1973, record 1.

Duke Ellington, "The Golden Duke" Prestige 2 LP set.

This is a great photo. . . but I always wondered what that had to do with Billie. I've tried a few hypotheses but. . . .

Great music though.

I think the movie is better than the record. YMMV.

Going to see the movie Friday night, actually, which is why I pulled the soundtrack off the shelf. A local pop-up arthouse film collective is showing it along with Lee Marvin’s Point Blank as part of a 60s noir series.

How are you finding it?

Liking it a lot more on this listen, probably my fourth or fifth but after a break. Hearing a lot more originality, variation and subtlety in her playing now. Just bought the Tzadik to see how that is

After hearing Mundell Lowe on a Richie Kamuca LP, I decided to give this CD a spin:

Mundell Lowe - Souvenirs: A Tribute to Nick Ceroli (The Jazz Alliance)
Eight of the twelve cuts were recorded in 1977 (and originally released on the Dobre label); the remaining four were made in 1992

First heard the album in the early 70s, a buddy picked it out of the cutout bins. Didn't care for it that much at first, but kinda warmed to it over the years. Never really got there for me.

But - seeing it in the context of the film...it works very well there. And the movie itself if a delight (if you can use that word for what is not at all a happy movie).

So, definitely not one of those soundtracks that stands well on its own, imo.

"The Complete Vee Jay Lee Morgan-Wayne Shorter Studio Sessions" Mosaic Records, disc VI

I'm on the final disc of the box set on this revisit. . . been thinking of which is my favorite disc. I think it's either this one, or the fifth one. Great music and sound!

I agree but IIRC the music works as a film score.  BTW This film is presumably why Beatty chose Penn for Bonnie and Clyde.
