jazzbo Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 (edited) About 14" of snow overnight, and it’s been 14 degrees F for a while. I went out and did most of the clearing I needed to before my hands got too cold–just have about four feet of the driveway yet to clear, though it’s pretty thick there due to the county plowing. And. . . it’s still snowing. projected for another four hours or more. . .we could get three to four inches more. The price I pay for living in this wonderful area (as far as nature goes, people and restaurants qnd shopping etc. not so much). Chilling out from all that exercise with Bobby Timmons “Sweet and Soulful Sounds” Riverside material from the German Jazz Plus release that also includes “Born to Be Blue”. . . Simon8 Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 (edited) The Harold Land thread spurred me to try this one again...(I like it, but still feels that the parts, formidable parts - Elvin, Land, Andrew Hill, Carmell Jones, George Tucker - are somewhat greater than its sum 🤷♂️) Edited January 15 by Simon8 Quote
clifford_thornton Posted January 15 Report Posted January 15 I haven't listened to that Jimmy Woods LP in years, but kinda feel, or felt, the same way about it. Quote

I heard Joe Farrell died quite early ? 18 hours ago, EKE BBB said: Some Prez to smoothly start the working day: Pres in Europe was when ? Anyway, I love Lester Young, but I often have regrets in context with the drummers they gave him, I think there is just one record with an interesting drummer and this of course is Roy Haynes, but it´s a live broadcast or a bootleg, I don´t remember.... was on one of those many cheap European bootleg labels back in the 70´s ..... I remember, the BigBand I heard 1979 was outa sight, they was one of the highlites of that festival, Sonny Rollins, Elvin Jones I think, and I think the last act on the last of the 3 nights was Woody.....really great I loved it ! jazzbo Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 I woke up relieved to see there was no snow overnight, none since early evening. . . after receiving a total of 16" in the previoius 24 hours. We are expecting more this afternoon and evening though, so shoveling is still in my immediate future! It’s cold right now, 13 degrees. Starting the day off with Jerry Garcia “Live at the Warwick,” disc 2. 1991 is not my favorite period for Jerry, but there is some great performances in this set, especially keyboard work. Quote
