Kevin Bresnahan Posted March 3 Posted March 3 The way-too-short "Way Out West" ended, so it's on to Kenny Dorham's "Live At The Cafe Bohemia" 2-CD set. I'm listening to disc 1 of the Ron McMaster CD set now and it sounds pretty good... well, except for the piano, which sounds a bit off. Sustained notes have a bit of warble. Probably on the master tape. This is coming out as a 3 LP/2 CD Tone Poet reissue soon. I'm going to pass on this one, as I think my old double-CD set will suffice. Sometimes it's good to have lost that upgrade itch. I think I've finally come to realize that my ears are fucked up enough at this point that it's money poorly spent to upgrade anything. That said, even my shitty ears can hear the lousy piano sound here. Quote

It seems with Amstrong influence in the trumpet and Ellington in album structure. Violin touch add a nice sound to the album. Higly recommended😀 Quote
