jazzbo Posted July 26 Posted July 26 (edited) A cool quiet morning. It gets deadly still here on Sunday mornings, the few neighbors around sleeping in. I tried to start off a day with some Sun Ra but just could not take the out of tune playing of standards and so moved on to a disc from this fantastic packaged Grateful Dead box set, disc 14. “Pacific Northwest '73–'74: The Complete Recordings” Edited July 26 by jazzbo Quote

This show was released as a standalone from the box set. A good show, though the vocals are almost non-existent on about five songs due to technical difficulties. Quote
gmonahan Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Fun stuff on this one. Eldridge really enjoys himself, and any bit of Fats Navarro is always worth a listen. Quote

jazzbo Posted July 27 Posted July 27 A beautiful morning. . . but something blew in that has me sneezing. Hopefully this will stop. Starting with a beautiful release by Carmen McRae, “Sarah: Dedicated to You” on Novus cd. With the Shirley Horn Trio! Shirley Horn, Charles Ables, Steve Williams Quote
jazzbo Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Right now the 2026 Universal Japan Impulse UHQCD of John Coltrane “Ascension.” It may be the same mastering as the most recent previous release, not yet compared directly, but it sounds very good. Quote
Peter Friedman Posted July 27 Posted July 27 This one seems to have been under the radar. It's a good album. Fine tunes and arrangements. Quote
