Don't miss him (as sideman and Co-Producer) on Barney McAll's Widening Circles from 1998 (not released until) 2006. His participation is selective in placement, but always maximally effective. And the rest of the record ain't bad at all!

Both Discogs & Amazon have copies for sale.

Maybe it's just me, but this is maybe one of the more "stealth" Billydates? Me finding it was completely on accident (as the kids like to say). But it is a really good record.

Agree about the Moncur which makes me think I should get 'Priestess'

I assume this is Moncur's Exploration we're talking about.  It is nice.  I should try to dig it out and give it a listen.

saw Billy with Barney (he's an Australian) live here in Brisbane not that long after his return from the states - must have been round 2000

looks like it was originally released on the Australian independant label AIJA (Australian Independant Jazz Artists) in 1998 as CD only then rereleased in the mid 2000s on the Australian Jazzhead label.

By my count, Harper is on two (2) other Mark Masters albums too - separate tributes to Porgy & Bess, and Steely Dan.

That’d then be a total of four (4) Mark Masters dates with Billy...

...unless there’s a 5th one I’m not aware of. (The only one I’m missing of the four, is the Steely Dan tribute project.)

Masters also did one of/with Grachan Moncur III that is equally worthy.

One of my favorite Jazz records of all time. I befriended Mark and I worked with him on a Lee Morgan project in 2004.
