JSngry
Don't miss him (as sideman and Co-Producer) on Barney McAll's Widening Circles from 1998 (not released until) 2006. His participation is selective in placement, but always maximally effective. And the rest of the record ain't bad at all! https://www.discogs.com/Barney-McAll-Widening-Circles/release/14841186 https://www.amazon.com/Widening-Circles-Barney-Mcall/dp/B000CIXHT6 https://barneymcall.com/recordings/widening-circles/
Rooster_Ties
You can listen to individual tracks - the entire album if I'm seeing right - here... https://barneymcalljazz.bandcamp.com/album/widening-circles Seems to be sold out (on CD) from this source, but I'm sure liking what all I'm hearing from the first few tracks I listened to most of. JSngry
Both Discogs & Amazon have copies for sale. Maybe it's just me, but this is maybe one of the more "stealth" Billydates? Me finding it was completely on accident (as the kids like to say). But it is a really good record.
Pim
Thanks for noticing Jim! I love Harpers music so this one is on my wishlist now.
felser
On it, thanks! This is another good "stealth" Billydate. I included a cut in a BFT a few years ago: https://www.discogs.com/Mark-Masters-Jazz-Orchestra-With-Billy-Harper-And-Jimmy-Knepper-Priestess/release/9176093

mjazzg
Agree about the Moncur which makes me think I should get 'Priestess'

It is nice. I should try to dig it out and give it a listen.

Rooster_Ties
By my count, Harper is on two (2) other Mark Masters albums too - separate tributes to Porgy & Bess, and Steely Dan. That’d then be a total of four (4) Mark Masters dates with Billy... ...unless there’s a 5th one I’m not aware of. (The only one I’m missing of the four, is the Steely Dan tribute project.) One of my favorite Jazz records of all time. I befriended Mark and I worked with him on a Lee Morgan project in 2004.
