Um... what are you talking about here... are you implying that simply because Amazon is selling the download, there is no need to reissue it on CD? What artists have taken that stance? Are there really artists that only sell downloads now? If true, that's a new one on me.

Has there ever been a case of jazz Christmas CDs being reissued?  That would be a new one on me.

and yes, d/l available, how many people really care especially for music of such a specialized and time-sensitive type?  Given the state of CD sales I would venture to say that a CD reissue of this material is not financially viable.  If the family owns the rights they can spend the money on trying to reissue it on Bandcamp but if they are the source for the Amazon D'L then it surely looks like they have made their economically viable choice.

Christmas music is reissued over & over & over again, just like any other music. Just check discogs for how many versions of Guaraldi's "A Charlie Brown Christmas" or Nat King Cole's "A Christmas Song" have been reissued. Even lesser-known titles like Scott Hamilton's "Christmas Love Song" has been reissued as "Late Night Christmas Eve".

I don't know, I'm not hunting down an average Christmas recording. You want to buy an average Christmas recording? Pass on the reissue.

I couldn't find any info on the interwebs. His website lists no upcoming or past performances and I could not locate a Facebook page.

Apparently he and Joshua Edelman led a Jazz Workshop session last July in Bilbao, and also gave a 2-piano concert. That's the only post-2019 thing I saw.

What (vinyl) did I buy today?

Something that probably had the clerks at my favorite local birck-and-mortar store wondering once again about my eclectic tastes: 

- Champion Jack Dupree (1940-1950 recordings) on Wolf BoB-14 (one of those collector's labels that went out of its way not to duplicate other current or available reissues by the same artist)

- Sauter-Finegan - The Return of the Doodletown Fifers (U.S. original on United Artists - "Ultra Audio" in "wall to wall stereo" )

Each was 5 EUR. Not bad.

Usually I don´t buy straight ahead jazz any more, I mean the old bop stuff I´m thru with that, BUT one exception was Dizzy´s Sonny Side Up" since I saw a Deluxe Edition of it at the only record shop we have left in my neighbourhood, and since someone had said once that it sounds good, I bought it.
