Yesterday bought Donaldson's Lou Takes Off. Figured with Donald Byrd, Curtis Fuller, and Sonny Clark it probably wasn't chopped liver. But it's the most convincing leader date I've heard by Donaldson, who up til now I've pegged as someone who sounded better as a sideman.
