Yeah, I had a look at that site last week and was cheesed off to find that most of what I was interested in, I had already bought at the regular prices. There are a few, however, so I'll be back soon.

Is this E2.99 deal time limited?

Lovely full sound in these recordings from first listen. IIRC Gdogus is a bit of a fan of this set :)

Just wondering which of the complete string quartet boxes to go for; think it may have to be the Fitwilliam/London recordings. What do you all think?

Don't know if you jumped yet but the Fitzwilliam set is going for a good price in the Universal sale - either at MDT or Europadisc.

I guess it's more some kind of leftover sale - they get new stuff in now and then, it seems (when I did my second order - the above one is the third - I bought all I wanted, so most of the above wasn't in stock back then...).

But I wouldn't wait too long, if there are things you really want...

Go for Borodin Quartet or a cheap Shostakovich Quartet box on Regis.

(Screams stage right from bank account) Thanks.

(Screams stage left from hifi.) It's taking me three days to play through all my recent albums at present.

Ah well.

Booker Little - Out front

Maybe Little's best album--the band is sick, the performances are wonderful, and the charts are beyond belief--hope you dig it!

Yeah! It´s an absolutely wonderful album! At the same level that those incredible Dolphy-leaded Five Spot live discs!

Some alternates from the session are on "Candid Dolphy". And his "& Friend" album on Bethlehem is just (or almost) as great, in case you're looking for further ways to spend money... :)

of course, whats sold out is sold out, but usually they change their programme every two months (= next time from August to September) maybe then there will be new 2,99 ZYX CDs but from what I see at the local shop I don't really believe it, the market seems to be somewhat "filled" (like Booker Ervin "The Song Book" for 2,99 lying around for more than a week without being bought)... I don't know if I remember the number right but I think they had bought about 300000 CDs from ZYX I suppose they can't continue until they sold them all

just saw this is not really correct, some stuff from this batch is already sold out (Kerry Dancers :( ) at least online, other stuff was (I think) added to the online catalogue after 1 July, like Philly Joe Jones "Philly Mignon", McCoy Tyner "13th House", the third Johnny Hammond Smith... I was early at the shop today they were just preparing the new items (not available online I suppose) and I could just see Oliver Nelson "Afro-American Sketches" and that three people were busy with the CDs so I hope hope hope that when I go there again (very soon) that there will be several very nice CDs waiting for me...

from what I found I would say anyone who has the possibility should check out the local 2001 store... (concordconcordconcord :g ) I bought

Barry Harris "Newer than new"

Don Wilkerson "The Texas Twister"

Don Sleet "All members"

for 2,99 each but left (for the usual reasons :( not more than two CDs at a time) there, among others, Sonny Stitt / Gene Ammons "God Bless...", Rod Levitt, Sonny Stitt "Goin down slow", Joe Albany with Warne Marsh, the third Chet Baker with George Coleman, Oliver Nelson "Straight Ahead" and "Afro-American Sketches" and many more which came in today

Well, whaddaya think, Matthew? I think it's well worth that price (but as you know I love that album!).

What PT are you still missing?

I ordered Lightbulb Sun off of Amazon.com today since while I was in the Bay Area for my vacation I couldn't find it anywhere, so it'll be a couple of days before I can listen to it. With this order, and getting The Sky Moves Sideways, Warszawa, Voyage 34, Metanoia, and pre-ordering Stupid Dream from Deep Discount CD, I'm set (I think) for all the PT cds.

Just arrived this morning

Two Jack McDuff compilations

B00006AGE4.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpgB00005B37P.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

A rare slice of jazz/funk from the 60s, which I've been meaning to investigate for some time.

B000CIXCDW.01._SS500_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1134180237_.jpg

And a Gene Ammons compilation, of which I have only the last 3 tracks on LP

B00006770M.03._SS400_SCLZZZZZZZ_V1056713518_.jpg

And two more packages from CD Universe still in transit. Have to cool down a bit now.
