LA Fires

Hoping board members impacted by the fires are all right. Have friends who have evacuated and one, as far as I know, who lost it all (but he and family are safe). 

Absolutely terrible situation. LA lifer buddy says he's never seen anything like this, ever.

FWIW I saw on FB that formerly active member Shawn has marked himself safe. You may recall he moved out to LA from Austin ... a decade ago?

Someone over on the Hoffman forums was saying that he had to evacuate and he was worried that he may lose everything. I cannot imagine what those people are going through right now.

I used to say I was glad I lived now in Ohio where there were no wild fires or tornados.

Then two years ago I was awakened by a tornado going through my neighborhood. We got lucky, no damage. Another neighbor we are close to (in both senses of the word) got lucky because a tree fell inches from hitting her garage. Other neighbors suffered damage.

I always thought Ohio was pretty much up the Tornado Alley but those things are (fortunately) a rare thing over there then as I learn from jazzbo now.

All my best wishes for everybody there in the LA area. It looks horrible.

More on Schoenberg:  The composer’s son stored over 100,000 of his father’s scores at Belmont. The scores were held in a digital back-up, but this was also destroyed in the fire.

Another fire broke out in the LA area yesterday and burned through over 10,000 acres in less than 14 hours. They're calling it the Hughes Fire.
