One was Wayne Shorter's Etcetera. The person said they had a list of titles that would NEVER come out on CD (Etcetera was not on it). That was mysterious to say the least. What was on the list? Maybe a bunch of titles from the George Butler era? Are there any Blue Notes that have never been on CD in any country? I am sure there are some. I am referring to titles that did exist on LP, not unissued dates. Blue Mitchell -Collision In Black Quote

bertrand Posted May 29 Author Report Posted May 29 (edited) 19 hours ago, felser said: Mileston Two great LP's that have mystifyingly never seen CD reissue: Gary Bartz 'Home' on Milestone and Sonny Simmons 'Rumasuma' on Contemporary. The Bartz probably has extra tracks and would be a nice 'complete' set that Zev or Cory Weeds could put out. I think I even pitched the idea to Cory. Working with Concord may be non-starter. Why I think there are extra tracks: Gary said the recording was planned in advance by Milestone. The last time (Ellington) was a closer. So the tape machines had to be rolling the whole time. It was not a 40-minute concert. Edited May 29 by bertrand Quote

What's the story on that one and that record company (looks like primarily an R&B label, including releasing Swamp Dogg's 'Total Destruction of Your Mind')? Was that Turrentine just in between BN and CTI, or was it some sort of rejected session. It looks/sounds like first cousin to his final BN albums, 'The Look of Love' and 'Always Something There'. While far from essential, it's not terrible. Edited May 30 by felser Quote
