  1. I would generally agree with some of what you said. I loved his band with Chris Potter. It was exceptional. I wish they had recorded more, esp. some live stuff. I probably saw that band half a dozen times. But I also agree with you and the other posters, that Father Time is kicking all of our butts. I did enjoy his new release with Lionel Louke though.
  2. I second this!! Probably one of the few Blue Note anything I've bought in the last decade.
  3. Okay, returning to the semi-point, I was on Zepbound (one of the newer weight loss drugs) for about two to three months. I lost 20 lbs and had major side effects. Everything about that experience was largely negative. Fortunately, the more severe side effects forced me to get off it altogether. Much of what my doctors told me was that once I got off it, the side effects would stop, which they did. I would not do it again. So far I've managed to keep off those twenty pounds but I'm done with that stuff.
  4. I get it. I just ran out of CD space. Don't know what your digital setup is. When I do buy a digital download, I practice listening to it in my car, or on computer within a week or so (otherwise I'd forget it too).
  5. No digital download for you? That's what I'm going to do.
  6. On Bandcamp, isn't the currency Euro or Pound?
  7. I missed out on the first one, but I adore the second one. It's gotten a lot of play in my headphones since its release.
  8. I'm leaning toward this one. I had a few late Pharoah CDs (including at least one on the Evidence label). Wasn't there a live double CD either on Evidence or another label (32jazz)? I saw him once, maybe twice, live in the 90s (maybe early 2000s), and thoroughly enjoyed him. I hate the term "mellowing out," but at that point, the Pharoah I saw and heard was far more in the Kahil El Zabar, EHE, spiritual, more spacing experience. The tricky part for me is whether or not this set reflects that era. It looks like the dates are from the late 1970s and early 80s. From those of you who know, were these two distinct eras in his playing (early 2000s and early 80s)? Or did he sound similar during those times?

  10. I saw her live once at the Montreal Jazz Festival over a decade ago, and she and her band were amazing. One of my top five shows of all time. I strongly recommend a three-CD live set of her Unity band. It came out on a Japanese label a few years ago. I don't think she leaves Japan much, and I have not seen or heard of her touring in the US in years. https://junkoonishi.jp/ https://www.discogs.com/release/15558316-Junko-Onishi-Presents-The-Sextetplus-Unity-All https://www.amazon.com/Unity-Onishi-presents-thesextetplus-PitInn完全版・3枚組/dp/B087Z34DHF
  11. I understand your basic point, and I don't fundamentally disagree with it. However, I do think it's a lot more complex than that. There are those of us who have had many things "go wrong" in life, thus making the decisions to exercise a lot lower priority. For example, if someone can't pay the rent, or they have a brother who just committed suicide, or a son who's drug addicted, or they've been sexually assaulted, those major life events can take precedence over "eating well" or exercising regularly. As someone who has had multiple traumas in the last decade, I know my weight gains (and sedentary lifestyle and shit diet) are my responsibility and my choices. I also know I'm an extremely high-functioning person who has survived a lot of things, other people might not have. Exercise and diet just aren't that high a priority given my life events. Just Google Dana Rivers, Oakland, and you'll get it.
  12. I came across this in my Instagram feed and wanted to run it by this group. Are the publishers being correct that this material hasn't been released previously in its entirety??? Or do I likely own it 3 times already in 3 different "never before released" sessions? https://thelostrecordings.store/en/products/miles-davis-quintet-the-complete-live-in-paris-vol-i-ii-double-uhqcd
  13. After two of my doctors kept warning me about prediabetes, I reluctantly (very, very reluctantly) tried Zepbound. My endocrinologist thought that was the one that would work well with the least side effects. After about three or four months, I'm down from about 240 to 220 lbs. I'm taking a very skeptical approach to these injections for the long-term. I essentially am going to take it for a while (a year-ish) and see what happens.
