  1. .ram = streaming Real Audio. I'm not sure if this would qualify as "easy to use", but it should work fine: .RAM to .MP3 (or .WAV) using Audacity.
  2. There are currently at least 11 Blue Note RVG editions available for download at Amazon for $3.98, and a bunch more at under $7.00. MP3 Downloads › "Rudy Van Gelder edition" › MP3 Albums
  3. Von Freeman's Core Corps, Captured In Germany
  4. I can't listen to Jefferson Airplane's "Come up the Years" without thinking that "I'm Chris Hansen" should be in there somewhere.
  5. I thought that C7#4 implied lydian dominant, and the chord would just be (in C): C E G Bb?
  6. Jackie McLean, "Rene", from "Let Freedom Ring". There's quite a conversation going on in this tune... lots of great moments from all players, but I especially like the one note exchanges around 6:55 or so.
  7. It's always great to hear "Threadgill's "When Was That?", and some Braxton Creative Orchestra music, and "Vonski Speaks"... But to hear all three, right in a row, on the RADIO, in WEST MICHIGAN, originating from a little cabin in a dark forest -- well, that rules!!! What a way to start the celebration! Congratulations!!!
  8. I've had good luck with the (free) software from Zenphoto. I'm not sure that this meets all of your criteria -- I used it for a high school reunion web site, so #3 wasn't necessary. But, I'm pretty sure it does support login/password. Good luck!
  9. As always, thanks for posting, Lazaro! The "Jazz Datebook" is a great resource, and much appreciated.
  10. Thanks for the info, Agg. I'd like to see them live sometime -- PT sometimes seems so totally Steve Wilson-centric that I forget there are other players involved. At that's unfortunate, as I'm sure the other members in the band are great musicians as well. Received "The Incident" as a xmas present. Hasn't left the CD player since.
  11. He's a very good player, but his live performances have irritated me on multiple occasions. Lots of pyrotechnics that appeared to be more about showing off than making any particular musical statement. I also associate him with Hazeltine, but I think David is a much more interesting player. I have "The Pleasure Dome" (Sharp Nine), and it's a decent record.
  12. That's not weird at all. It would bug the heck out of me, too. I almost bought the Ella set from yourmusic, but picked up a used copy from our esteemed board member Big Al. No matter how you obtain it, there's some great music in that set!
  13. Download and install IrfanView. Image->Resize is an easy way to reduce the dimensions (and size) of any image file, and then saving as a .jpg (if the image is not already in that format) will reduce the file size dramatically over .bmp and other formats. Easy to use, and free.
  14. Was listening to your show last night, Lazaro. Enjoyed the Henderson selections and the commentary. Reminds me I need to dig out my copy of "Early Jazz" again.
  15. You want "regular" links to be opened in a new tab? The "Tab Mix Plus" or "Tab Control" add-ons can probably achieve this (rather odd, IMO) behaviour. Alternatives to the "open link in new tab" context menu route: * click link with middle mouse button/scroll wheel * hold <ctrl> and left click link I believe if you also hit the F7 key and tap the space bar at the same time using the appropriate rhythm, it gives you the intro to 'So What.' Looks like it's in D/Eb Dorian by default. But, if you press <ctrl><shift><+> or <ctrl><shift><->, it will transpose up or down in half-step increments. Pretty cool! This new board software is friggin' amazing!
  16. $40 is a steal, highly recommended! Earlier discussion here -- I got mine from Newbury for $30!
  17. Pi Records Amazon Sampler Some good stuff -- artists include Corey Wilkes, Steve Lehman, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Vijay Iyer.
  18. PM Sent on Getz - Complete Roost Recordings.
  19. Drummer Elliot Humberto Kavee is also on one of my favorite Rudresh Mahanthappa recordings, Black Water. Some random comments: really enjoying Henry's work on flute, and Jose Davila's tuba sounds great and fits perfectly on Chairmaster. Dance Album of the Year? Certainly not my first reaction... but after listening again, I can dig that. Allmusic.com Review says "Electric bass guitarist Stomu Takieshi and drummer Elliot Humberto Kavee are practically secondary in this mix of give-and-take improvisation"... have to disagree with that one. The overall instrumentation (flute/alto, trombone/tuba, guitar, bass, drums) is something that grabbed me immediately. Not entirely unfamiliar, but different enough to draw me in and make me dig deeper.
  20. Up for more discussion, comments, reviews, etc. Amazon download: $5.94.
  21. Just tried again to reply to a message and function not working.. Got four PMs from you, Randy... the messages appear to be going through, it just takes a (very) long time after hitting "send" for anything to happen. My browser just says "Waiting for organissimo.org...".
