  1. But you could download only the tracks you need from those sessions. I don't know for sure if they all excist as downloads but it can't hurt to look for them.
  2. OK if you say so I will.......Thanks for this, just what I needed.
  3. I sold this box set because of the reason kh1958 states above. About 6 tracks from the 5 cd box were not on other cd's by the respective artists. So you could easily make your own West Coast CD by combining those tracks from their original session/albums. The fact the music is over 50 years old is of no importance to me it's a matter of principle. If the music is available in a legimite way you should go that route in the first place.
  4. This was on CD issued in Japan only part of a 5 CD box set with 4 other volumes in these Jazz West coast series. I sold my copy some time ago to someone on this board so he might be able to assist you in some way (although I don't approve these kind of things).
  5. I don't watch that either: I attend these concerts (just to make so much noise I get thrown out every time)!!!
  6. I try to avoid it every year with much succes!!!! But to each it's own and I love the Wiener Philharmoniker and most of the conductors who do the new year's concerts, it's just this type of classical music which doesn't do it for me.

    Blue Note

Yes Peter "we" are sure about that. Artwork is not included only because of the pinting costs involved. Linernotes are sometimes included but mostly new ones are being written specifically for the sets by known authorities on the subject. This also because a lot of the sessions and tracks in the set are unissued in the first place.
  8. And then sell it on Organissimo because you suddenly remembered you've sold all your cd's (for a good reason....)
  9. Popkin: the last of course (although the first explanation is valid as well I'm sure......)
  10. And given the fact most (if not all CD-r's nowadays) will outlive all on this board so what's the problem of CD-r's?
  11. Deletions in the US doesn't mean automatically they are deleted in Europe too. Europe has it's own pressings and stock so they might be around much longer over here (or shorter, no not Wayne, depending on stock). Repressing in the EU has been made even more difficult since the EMI pressing plant in Uden (NL) is going to close down soon.
  12. That sticker must have been added to make it more selleable to a wider audience. The CD issue itself was from way before the series even was invented by Tom and Michael (and Bob maybe).
  13. San Francisco is NOT a rare groove. Regular issue from the 90's. (so Niko you're 15 % sane!!!)
  14. Talkin' about a later in life discovery: "Just ordered the Weather Report set for $16.93 including shipping"
  15. At least the Benson set does have the latest remasterings (exact copies of the SBM versions from the late 90's). For the rest I don't know which remastering they've used.
  16. Hello all, wondering why there's no mention of the last 2 Mighty Quinn issues of the quartets by Ralph Lalama and Carmen Leggio!! They are very strong straight ahead (mainstream) issues of 2 masters of the saxophone. The thing with these two cd's which makes them all the more tasteful is the fact they have a guitarist as the harmony instrument. This gives the procedings a nice extraordinary tough. Both rythm sections have Petrone and Corsello on bass and drums respectively and they swing as hell !! I might say. No surprises here just plain solid damm good swinging of standards and some originals in the mix as well. Nicely recorded in Stamford. Maybe not your top priority of aquiering but I strongly suggest you'll check these 2 gemms out.
  17. it doesn't compare at all imo. He's much more straight on the Ammons date.
  18. I'm afraid the Mosaic Singles line is not making (enough) money to continue this so don't expect (much) more issues.
  19. Chuck: maybe you should buy it to break through the cycle of waiting for better times and create them yourself (ourselves...)

    Pid?

Most if not all Fresh Sound and Andorean labels have this too so I susspect it stands for Pxxxx Import Disc.
  21. Very well put Shrink!! My thoughts exactly!!!! Pushin back Mosaic is punished by being banned from Organissimo so be careful what you do. Big O's watching you.
  22. Just wondering what the crowd here thinks of JT. I'm a huge fan of his and the new album "Covers" is great imo. All played live in a barn with incredible musicians.
