  1. As I've stated in the earlier postings the Mosaic sets are the only ones to use the original analog tapes. All the other versions on the market use either LP copies as a source or inferior second generation tapes. I can't comment on the orginal LP's (never heard them).
  2. I think it's a strong effort. Because it's live it has more punch than the studio albums.
  3. Like has been said before these use the old remasterings. Just as the "new" Rollins and Miles boxes. So just a good way to get it all together in one place cheap.
  4. Son: I have the "real" version of VICJ-60023 and the wrong spelling is on that one too so this is not a sign of a fake edition.
  5. You are right and wrong Hans about Trijntje. In Dutch it's indeed Trijntje but Blue Note uses traincha for the international market. They have done this before with earlier issues in the UK.
  6. By all means do so David! I'll give it a close listen tonight to see if my view will change.
  7. Haven't listened it as a whole but the first half is a real sleeper.........not catching any fire. Must have been quite boring being in the audience.
  8. but you've won gold twice last night so you can't complain!!!!
  9. Sorry King: mea culpa!!! I was the one telling you all about the fact the Coltrane Albums wouldn't be included...how stupid of me. Of course they are included. Can and/or will you all forgive me???
  10. Actually it is a Concord set with all the Prestige albums by Miles (without Coltrane). It's issued by Universal/Concord Italy and looks quite nice (and it's cheap in Holland at leaat). http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/product/detail/3766409
  11. Let me add that this is indeed a great "mainstream" jazz record. Nice tunes, good feel and great playing from all. I really like the guitar work of Hart (underrated, anyone???). Again thanks must go to Jerry Roche of Mighty Quinn to stick his neck out and brings this cd to us in this market. Let's support him and buy this (and other) record from his growing list of real gemms!!! (I'm not related or financially involved with Mighty Quinn in case you wonder....)
  12. Some of the Gramavisions are still in print. The Scofield's and the Medeski's to name a few. The more obscure ones are deleted.
  13. Ed: I'll get back to this threat as soon as possible.........stay tuned!
  14. I think we all should love them a little harder if we want to see them surviving this year........
  15. Can't believe I'm the first to reply!! Looks and feels great already. Also noticed the thread doen't change automatically when using the popdown menue at the bottom. It used to go to the selected thread by itself and now you have to use the "go" button as well. But if that's the price to pay for this fast and smooth running version so be it!!! Congrats Jim and thanks as always.
  16. What's with this? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B...6908&sr=1-1
  17. The European version of The Eye of the Beholder (Chick Corea Elektric Band) made some players to activate the pre emphasis (and thus sounded dreadful). The US pressing didn't have this problem! Off topic I know but a curiosity I couldn't resist telling you all......... The CJ28 series from Japan (early 1990) was a mixed bag with US and Japanese remasterings.
  18. King: they are not remastered and are clones of the earlier versions. I would keep the older issues since the cd is almost unable to obtain out of the digipack.....I hate these versions.
  19. I believe it's a bargain to get the 1568 for 2 grand. Story says there are only about 500 pressed at the time so it's one of the rarest of Blue Note LP's.
  20. All your music is even worse than Caiman (which is acceptable to me). No communication possible (no answers to emails) and if the cd's are sent it takes at least 6 weeks to reach me in the Netherlands (not the average banana republis imo). But they are indeed the cheapest in many cases.
  21. exactly my thoughts Goldberg!!!! What a waste for the real jazz lover that these kind of things happen (more often that we know I'm afraid).
  22. I happen to buy often from Brian. Always with fast and prestine service and cd's. He could offer more in terms of discussing jazz with us but to each his own I guess.
  23. Don't think the two words Blue Note and reissue are a pair anymore..........
  24. totally in agreement! A nice set (as we are used to get from the HalfNote label) in good sound.
  25. But did some of you actually met Cindy? In real life she's even nicer!! Best of luck to her. Mosaic's loss is some other employers gain.
