  5. Joe Henderson and Woody Shaw “Jazz Patterns” Everest/Real Gone Music LP
  6. Tim Warfield “A Cool Blue” Criss Cross cd This is a great quintet, and the arrangement here of “Summertime” is like none I’ve heard before–I really like it.

  9. A nice warm morning, and I decided to leave this disc in the transport and repay it. The dynamics in the system are on full display, and this disc plays back percussion in a way I’ve never experienced it before. Herbie Hancock “Gershwin’s World” Verve SACD
  10. Herbie Hancock “Gershwin’s World” Verve SACD

  12. Someone should grab this . . . it's an excellent set of music. I like this far more than I thought I would when I purchased when first released.
  13. Dutch Jazz Orchestra "The Lady Who Swings the Band--Re-discovered Music of Mary Lou Williams" Challenge Records cd Exquisitely recorded. . . and great music. Give the bass player a raise!
  14. Freddie Hubbard “Sky Dive” CTI Supreme Blu-Spec CD
  15. That's perhaps my favorite Nistico.
  16. Immanuel Wilkins “Blues Blood” Blue Note cd My fourth time listening to this work. Fascinating is perhaps the best description of my continuing reaction. Very well-engineered also. 400×400 1
  17. Not my experience. (I think I've mentioned it thrice perhaps, and felt it many times over the years). Glad to be wrong and glad it is not felt that way by others.
  18. A bit cooler this morning, which is welcome. The birds are sining happily! Another disc from “Enjoying the Ride,” the 60th Anniversary box set from the Grateful Dead. Boston Music Hall, Boston, MA (9/15/72) disc 3 A great final set for this date: TRUCKIN’> DRUMS> THE OTHER ONE> And then great highlights from the next night: Boston Music Hall, Boston, MA (9/16/72) MORNING DEW> DARK STAR> BROKEDOWN PALACE
  19. Freddie Hubbard "Keep Your Soul Together" CTI Supreme Blu-Spec CD Japan
  20. To me, on my system, it is. I haven't done a comparison on any other's system. I make no bones about being an audiophile, something that seems to attract a lot of disdain here, and I have spent a LOT of money on my system so that I can hear differences. If in general you don't hear improvements in reissues in your system, you may not here.
  21. Carmen McRae “Ms Jazz” Groove Merchant/Solid Records Japan cd Bass – Paul West Drums – Jimmy Madison Guitar – Bucky Pizzarelli Piano – Tom Garvin Tenor Saxophone – Zoot Sims I love her singing so much. A master. Ms Jazz, indeed. 300×285 8.72 KB
  22. I do too. There are many better sounding alternatives though, these two recent releases among them.
  23. The Herbie Nichols Project “Strange City” Palmetto cd Each of their releases is a great interpretation of Nichol’s always intriguing compositions. Bass – Ben Allison Drums – Matt Wilson Piano – Frank Kimbrough Soprano Saxophone – Michael Blake Tenor Saxophone – Ted Nash Trombone – Wycliffe Gordon Trumpet, Flugelhorn – Ron Horton 160×160 11.1 KB
  24. “Clifford Brown Max Roach Quintet at Basin Street” Emarcy/Universal Japan 24 bit remastered lp facsimile cd This series of Brown/Roach releases from Japan sound so darned good I’ve never bought newer reissues.
  25. That's a great one. . . I have both LP and cd versions (don't need both but have them).
