I know someone in this movie; one of the kids killed by the headliner. So I watched it - well, most of it. The gore and violence rival any movie I've ever seen and were pretty ridiculous. The gore is pornographic really, since characters are obviously introduced and set up in scenes that telegraph intent from miles away.

I thought that I had snoozed and looked. CvD advised me that out of the 500 hard copy sets they had ordered that the manufacturer (in Poland!) still had another 200 or so to deliver and most of those were going to vendors. She suggested reserving a copy at either Dusty zGroove or Forced Exposure. Good advice, but when I went to Forced Exposure, they showed it as In Stock, so I ordered, and it looks like it's good to go. So, Forced Exposure, yeah!

I have quite a number of Ray Bryant albums but I return to this one often.

It’s equally good and there’s much more. They were magic together.

@Late, I'll make one more Beirach recommendation: Forgotten Fantasies. It's not a trio album though. It's a duo LP with David Liebman. Unforgettable music, imo.

I have quite a collection of Ran Blake LPs and CDs but haven't kept up with anything more recent than the duets with Sara Serpa from 2010. So many duets. I'd love to hear his 1994 appearance on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz but haven't found it archived online yet. Something I found out recently was that he wrote liner notes for other musicians' albums several times: Chris Connor – Cocktails and Dusk; Free Spirits reissue Horace Silver – The Trio Sides (Blue Note) Mal Waldron – One and Two I don't own any of these releases, but I very much wanted to read the Waldron liner note, so I used a magnifying glass and read the image on Discogs. He recounts his intense lessons with Waldron, who at first did not want to take him on as a student. Blake said he's never met a more patient person than Waldron. He also recalled working in the kitchen at the Jazz Gallery nightclub and making something called "Ivory Soap mayonnaise." 🤨 He refers to "High on a Windy Hill" as one of the most harmonically sophisticated ballads ever written. Spun this last night and had to stop what I was doing and just listen. I used to think I wasn't a fan of their duo work, but thankfully I was mistaken. This is a really good session. I still haven't heard Volume 2 of this set.

Yep, I was happy to stumble across Bangalore -- and the other two Mariano albums, as well. I've heard them all via streaming services, but I'm looking forward to hearing the music on my stereo in higher fidelity.

Saw this thread referenced elsewhere on the board and thought I'd resurrect it. I have two sets that I got directly from Mosaic years ago that came with booklets, but in plain boxes. So, I am looking for the actual outer boxes that came with the sets. 1. Shorty Rogers 2. Herbie Nichols I check eBay and Discogs every once in a while. I recently snagged a George Lewis outer box on Discogs, which knocked that one off my list. Still looking for the other two.
