  1. Past hour
  2. The more I think about this.. (and go through what I have), the more I may skip it. I think I have a lot of this already.. but need to scrutinize more...
  3. Today
  4. My copy should arrive today and I'm really looking forward to it. I do have a question your the group. I don't think there's been a Carla Bley boxed set or series of unreleased live stuff (other than the new one). Why? I mean she was well-known and respected by the jazz community. I know Charlie Haden loved her... but I don't get why she doesn't get more attention...
  5. John Jenkins / Kenny Burrell: John Jenkins With Kenny Burrell. Blue Note CDP 7243 8 52437 2 1 [US 1996]
  6. There's a review of that gig sans Larry in the Washington Post 3/2/70. Dave Holland is named. I saw in some chronology that Jack Bruce was in Calfornia.
  7. “The Complete Blue Note Recordings of Sidney Bechet” Mosaic Records 6 LP set, LP 2
  8. That Epistrophy sounds like a sign off, and it goes out! Is this the concert Monk was so mad about in the documentary? Where he knocks that Styrofoam cup off the table in the dressing room after it was over?
  9. The Testaments - HULU
  10. I like OP, but own the majority of this on old Verve CD's, and can't justify the cost of the upgrade (same with their many BN boxes of recent years - I prefer BN's with original artwork and track listings anyways, better to recreate the magic of the time and place). But I'm sure it's a nice set.
  11. Blue Lake Public Radio’s jazz director Lazaro Vega has a few thoughts to share on recent programming, Jazz Appreciation Month, International Jazz Day, his birthday and “Sweet Georgia Brown.” You can read and respond to those musings here: https://www.bluelakeradio.org/2026-05-12/international-jazz-day-my-birthday-jazz-from-blue-lake
  12. As far as Emergency, my longstanding understanding is that the recording was botched, no remastering is going to make it sound good. Yet it remains essential listening despite the sonic flaws (and Tony's "singing").
  13. Al Cohn plays wonderfully here. The trumpet solos and arrangements are also very good.
  14. Mingus was Bremen 64/75 (Sunnyside 2CD), not Miles (or Monk).
