Back at the stereo for a bit. Pulled out Dexter Gordon "Our Man in Paris" 24 Bit by RVG Blue Note Japan cd Earl "Bud" Powell on the piano chair makes this a special session. There are perhaps better sounding digital editions, but I still like this one, it's "earthy" sounding to me.

I have some of these works on lp. Some Dgg lp's from a certain era sound strange, no depth, no soundstage, very thin ... this recording/pressing is an example of that phenomenon. EDIT: maybe the best way to descibe it is lifeless. I bet it sounds better on cd though ... -

One last bump for a great box set. Total price averages to less than $20 per record shipped! I will keep this listed until Friday, August 8, and then return it to my collection if there is no interest by that time. Offered for sale is a beautiful copy of the Ramones: The Sire Albums 1981-1989 7lp box set. I love it. Sounds great too. I am a fan of Rafael Kubelik's conducting in general. -

Buck Clayton - The Complete CBS Buck Clayton Jam Sessions (Mosaic). Disc 1 is up first. I get the urge to play these jam sessions every now & then and they never disappoint. Such a fun set. Your feet tap no matter your mood. It's the kind of music where I wish I could've been in the studio to see these Jazz greats in action.

I'll second the nomination of #9 as Gene/Three Sounds. Might be able to figure out if someone names the tune.

RIP, big loss. Great director. Sadly I never saw any of his NYC productions live (wasn't yet into BAM aesthetics when I lived in Brooklyn long ago). Must have been interesting to work with him. Scanning his website, Wilson's work seems to have been better received in Europe than in the USA.
