  1. Past hour
  2. Thats great Kevin. Big fan of Andrew Hill. Truly a one of a kind wonder. Judgement was the last record I needed to obtain to complete my Blue Note Hill collection
  3. A tiny bit warmer this morning. It’s the time of year when a tiny bit is a bit bigger than months previous. Starting off the day with “Roxy Coss” self-titled, self-released cd This is my second copy as my first copy had a bad skip in the final track, and a visible scuff. So far this copy is perfectly fine; I really do like the music of Ms Coss.
  4. I saw Hill with his big band at Birdland and I had him sign this LP for me. It's hard to photograph something in a frame covered with glass.
  5. United Artists Jazz LAX 3121 (Japan ) - John Coltrane "Coltrane Time" - rec. Oct. 1958 - Engineer: Fernando Vargas

  7. Only January, February, May and December are claimed, at the moment -- pick your month from what remains, and I'll carve it in stone.
  8. If slots are still available, I'mm happy to assemble another BFT in 2026. Thanks!

  16. I wonder what kind of jazz it is that people "hate" according to this book? Just like I wonder if those who, when learning of my interest in jazz, claim it's "too weird and too far out" for their tastes, know what jazz they are thinking of and what jazz they are unaware of. Jelly Roll Morton, Count Basie, Lennie Tristano, Hampton Hawes, Bill Evans (and that's only some pianists) - all alike to them, I wonder?
  17. Thank you, such amazing treasures, indeed. For some reason I listened yesterday to the Gunther Schuller interview around Louis Armstrong. Exceptional. And having Schuller saying that after the end of his evening job at the MET orchestra as horninst in the 40s, he went ahead to the 52 street etc. to see the Bird, Gillespie, Monk et al. ignoring *then* Satchmo who was so hostile to the new music.
  18. Kept both copies because I like the RVG remaster, but dug the King sleeve too; perfect 1967 era artwork:
