  1. Past hour
  2. I've never had trouble just copying and pasting video URL into the body of the post. As to the question of "early rock n roll" maybe Ike got it right (from Wiki): In a later interview, however, Ike Turner offered this comment: "I don't think that 'Rocket 88' is rock 'n' roll. I think that 'Rocket 88' is R&B, but I think 'Rocket 88' is the cause of rock and roll existing"
  3. 👍- as LP reissue SAVOY JAZZ SJC (MG 12121) from 1985 on my shelf ...
  4. Last night and again now:
  5. March 4 Ricky Ford - 1954
  6. Today
  7. I never quite understood why Rocket 88 is considered early rock and roll. To my ears it sounds fairly squarely R&B. I guess the lyrics are about driving around getting teenage kicks.
  8. I saw Palmer last year at Ronnie's and he was really good. Off to the Vortex this evening in Dalston to watch Florian Albenz featuring Greg Osby.
  9. Jason Palmer “Rhyme and Reason” Giant Step Arts 2 cd set, cd 1 with Mark Turner, Matt Brewer and Kendrick Scott
  10. Ts find in unplayed mint condition. These are the Teldec reference recordings ! excellent !
  11. I'm thinking about seeing Nick Goumas and Jason Palmer at Arthur's House of Jazz in Methuen Thursday night, but I just saw them at The Press Room a few months ago. Plus, no one seems able to go to this one, so I'd have to go solo.
  12. Beethoven, Ts find, found another better copy
  13. Jimmy Glass - Valencia (España) Winter Festival Rale Milic Trio Rale Milic: Guitar Ugonna Okegwo: bass E.J. Strickland: Drums Featuring: Albert sanz: Piano
  14. Miles Davis “Live/Evil” Sony SRCS 9739-40 2 cd set, disc 2 One of the early recording in my collecting history, bought when first released as a 2 LP set more than 50 years ago, and has been a part of my listening world since. Love this music and it sounds so good on the system this morning!
  15. Starting off with Billy Ver Planck Orchestra “Jazz for Playgirls” Savoy/Denon cd.
  16. Flaga = Craig Taborn, Christian McBride and Tyshawn Sorey
  17. March 4 Jan Garbarek - 1947
  18. Lots of "sub-combinations" for sure! Some of the albums I've listened to are Barbieri/Jensen. You're probably right about the HoF. There are so many overlooked artists anyway, it doesn't really matter. I forgot about "Steppin' Out" - VERY 'Garage'!
  19. IIRC based on a play by A.W. Pinero which I read in grad school.
