I saw Buster Williams once in 1979 as âsecond bassâ in the Ron Carter Quartet (with Kenny Barron and Ben Riley). I must admit I like Ron Carter much more on the regular bass than on Picollo Bass that he played. Buster Williams had one solo but it sounded more interesting to me and he got very much applause for that. I love him on records, to bad I saw him live only one time.

Album covers with drums in cases or bags

I remember a photo of Kenny Clarke sitting on a drum case behind his kit, probably because he forgot to bring a seat, but that was not an album cover. -
What's up there? There seems to have been two Costas, thoughtful pop and schlocky pop.

I was in Odense in 2024 which I turned into twice 2 hours in Copenhagen to and from the airport. There are loads of record stores. The two best ones I saw are Jazz Cup and Sound Station (even though the latter had somewhat ambitious and erratic pricing... I am the rare customer who might buy a Burt Bales LP for 12 Euro... but not for 30...), the two stores are in fairly different parts of the city so in each case, it's super easy to find three or four others stores in the area which may or may not be hit or miss... Anyway, it was a fun city for record shopping and I confidently recommend building your hunts around either of those two stores...

What Jim said. KB is arguing that 7.5 inches of tape is more tape than 15 inches of tape. When you see 911 recordings the tapes move super slow - because they are maximizing capacity of reels / efficiency of recording calls. -

I don't think so...15 inches of tape is more than 7.5 inches of tape, right? A slower tape speed gives you more total capacity, but that's because you're using less tape per song (or whatever). -
