I had them in various boxes, thrown into storage in the order acquired (after I ripped them to disk). It was a jumble. I had to move so I took the opportunity to reorganize my storage and get all the sets sorted in order.
-
Are all those box sets 'inbound' or 'outbound' for a new assignation?

I don't have the set, but have LPs by a number of the artists featured. I don't think you could go wrong at the price Tom. This thread covers a lot of ground:

Thanks to @cayetano Frederiksberg Records, based in Brooklyn, New York, is preparing for a 50th-anniversary reissue of the Charles Tyler Ensemble's album *Voyage From Jericho*, to be released on January 23, 2026. Recorded in July 1974 at Studio Wee in New York City and originally released in 1975 by Akba Records, this historic session showcases the group led by saxophonist Charles Tyler (1941-1992) pushing boundaries with intense improvisations, a spiritual side, and raw emotion. Along with top-tier collaborators—including Arthur Blythe, Earl Cross, Ronnie Boykins, and Steve Reid—Tyler shapes a sound where the intensity of free jazz and a poignant depth, celebrating freedom and expression, coexist. This release comes with a 28-page booklet that includes previously unreleased photos, as well as detailed notes by critic, researcher, and essayist Cisco Bradley. This is such great news. Heard this one for the first time only a year ago and fell in love immediately. Such raw and pure energy. Great band as well. So good I was seriously considering saving up money to buy an original in the end. This one will do fine: apparently deluxe version and according to our own @clifford_thornton from the tapes and with consent of the Tyler estate. Looking forward to this!

Offered for sale is a great, and quite uncommon, box set. It took me a long time to find a copy of this title but it is now time for me to downsize my collection and let someone else enjoy it. The last few years I've been very curious about the Jazz scene outside the US. Mostly from the era from the 1950s- '1970s. I have explored some recordings from Sweden, Poland, Germany Japan, etc. While I do have some Tubby Hayes and a few other British artists, I was kind of curious. I see this particular box set and was interested in other people's input. Is this something I should be also considering? https://a.co/d/b986BR5

Yes! Haydn has really clicked for me this past year. I've always "enjoyed" Haydn's work, and then turned to Beethoven or whoever else, but now I'm seeing/hearing Haydn's quartet writing as foundational and absolutely critical to the form. I only have the Tokyo String Quartet's version of the op. 50, and really like it. I only know the Leipziger from their Schönberg, and haven't even heard the other string quartets you mention—Nomos, Zaide, and Auryn. Will have to investigate. The Mosaïques didn't record the op. 50, and neither did the Amadeus. From what I've read, this particular opus isn't considered as inventive as later opuses (76, etc.), but I like the opus 50 quartets for their structural simplicity (if I actually know what I'm talking about). Really nice! Thanks for the heads-up.

The 1964 Mingus material has long intrigued me--I've bought official and unofficial copies of every concert I could find, and really enjoy them. Johnathan Blake “My Live Matters” Blue Note cd “Where do we go from here? What other choices do we have?”

thank you, @Referentzhunterthank you to you too. Well I have not heard her music. I spotted the eyebrows, you know I have two passions: Music, and Beauty/Styling/Fashion, music my profession, the other stuff my "hobby" or my "necessity as a man" cause I scream over women who are beautifully styled and I also spend a lot money on clothes and cosmetica *oops*. Last night listening to Pharoah Sanders, my alltime favourite, my personal hero, and a guide to me to become a better human being. All my love to that man and his music ! "Harvest Time" soooooo beautiful, things like those let me fight with tears, anyway, complicate year, lotta emotions....... oh interesting. There must be telepathy because I also have not listened to Mingus for much time, he was very often listened by me in the past, and I had seen him live 3 times, but now I am more into stuff like more spiritual music like late Trane, Alice Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders, Albert Ayler and so on. But as you say it, yesterday I had listened to a Mingus album, I think an Impulse album, but not "Black Saint". I did not purchase the "Cornell" stuff, since I have too much from that 1964 band already, I have the Townhall, I have the 3 LP "Great Concert of Charles Mingus" and so that was enough for my tastes..... But I am sure it is as interesting as the others I already have.

As it turned out I will meet Ekkehart Fleischhammer of Sonorama Records in Berlin this upcoming Saturday. A mutual friend there recently made his acquaintance. Any questions that I might ask him? http://sonorama.de/

I suspect there were surplus cooies of all partials to replace defective material. Mosaic sold many of these.

How about suggesting a Soulful Strings box set to Mosaic?

Michel Portal, 90! Had a great experience interviewing him c. 2004, and saw him perform a few concerts around that time as well. This is a favorite: Also born today: Eddie South, Wilber Morris, Don Sleet, Lyle Mays, Joris Teepe, Jacky Terrasson, and Wessell Anderson.

I am a huge fan of the Haydn String Quartets Op.20 through Op.77. I have heard numerous (mainly) recorded performances of all of them. Rarely a day goes by when I have not listened to at least one Haydn String Quartet. Here are my recommendations for the Op.50 quartets: Nomos Quartet Zaide Quartet Tokyo Quartet Leipziger Quartet Auryn Quartet
