What Classical Music Are You Listening To?
Referentzhunter replied to StarThrower's topic in Classical Discussion
I just realized i've NEVER heard a later recording of Pollini. Would be interesting to hear the changes. I've enjoyed the four last songs a lot ... should listen again ! -

It was a shame I didn’t get to see Geri Allen perform live. I’m probably in the minority here, but personally, while I appreciate her later, more traditional style of piano playing, I feel it was a bit “too serious.” Coming from the M-BASE scene, I preferred her earlier performances, where she really put her keyboards to work. Her music had a unique, ethereal quality—it was bright and open—and I feel like she never fully explored that potential before it came to an end.

What live music are you going to see tonight?
kh1958 replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
This Saturday afternoon, at the Gainesville Blues and Tattoos Festival, Bnois King Band. He's a fabulous blues vocalist and his guitar is the opposite of the usual blues/rock guitarist of today. Bnois' guitar playing is elegant, measured, unhurried, rich in sound, yet also very intense, and achieved without a single guitar pedal. -

I purchased six of those OJcs as well as a couple of other items I hadn’t pulled the trigger on yet. Nothing I wanted was out of stock. I would have purchased more but others I was interested were a little expensive, in my opinion.

The authentic "Autobiography" music is great. I have that 3 cd set, and also any corresponding material (sans "reminiscences") on the Armstrong Decca All Stars set.

No time to sort the details, but I have this 3 cd Verve set.from 25 years ago
