  2. I like it. Buster's bass has a slightly lower center of gravity than Ron Carter's and pushes forward more, so I think he matches better with the heavy Tony and the lighter Hank Jones than Carter does.
  3. I caught his program about Bird’s appearance at Cafe Society in June July 1950. Typically strong analysis. Came across this article. https://www.college.columbia.edu/cct/issue/fall-2020/article/radio-days
  4. A German series about the fall of East Germany and the divisions within one German family. Aired through the PBS Walter Presents. Pretty good.
  5. Aleluya Records AR - 17000 (FSR-690 1989) - Enrique Villegas "Tributo A Jerome Kern" - rec. 1977 -
  6. Playbills for Cafe Society.

    I’m definitely up for that.
  11. Tyshawn Sorey Trio +1 With Greg Osby “The Off-Off Broadway Guide To Synergism” Pi 3 cd set, disc 3 400×400 28.3 KB A fascinating release. THis time around I am noticing how Osby sometimes gets his horn to sound like an accordian or concertina!
  12. Since it was still sitting on top of the rack I’m now playing the first disc in this set. Marvin Gaye “Here my Dear” Expanded Edition, Motown 2 cd set, disc 1
  13. 🤙 Is it only me or are these Debussy recordings magnificant ? If i think of Haitink i think initially of Mahler, Debussy. Thereafter Bruckner ... What about you ?
  14. Préludes Morton feldman's music is something i truly admire ... if it's done well ofcourse.
  15. Listened a second time to the recording and i have to say that i don't like 'it' despite some listeners claiming this to be one of the best 9'th ... mwhee ...
  16. Phi-Psonics – Expanding To One One of the better recent fake spiritual jazz records.
  17. A lot happening at any one time.
  18. February 20 Anthony Davis - 1951
  19. An unlikely yet quite successful duet!
  20. Art Pepper 1959 Live at the Cellar. 4 cds. Release date 02/20/26. https://omnivorerecordings.com/shop/live-at-the-cellar/
  21. Edit - this was playing at the same time as the Tjader version above, so I mistakenly thought this wasn't actually a solo guitar tune. Kind of cool actually. But the solo version is good too, once I figured out what was going on.
  22. Yep. Buster plays on the GJT's Love for Sale (East Wind, 1976). I don't think I've ever heard it. Anyone who has: What do you think?
  23. Some Feldman recordings I haven't listened to in a long time.
