  2. Not only are you welcome to jump into a BFT but new blood among compilers is welcome too! Excellent username, BTW. I was going to jump in with Benny Green as a guess on #9.
  3. At minimum and see how he progresses from there. Shut down middle and late relief is key if they make it to the playoffs. (And watching the video he doesn't seem that big ... more like a Linebacker than Crochet who I would liken to a Tight End.)
  4. Reissue? Also known (Original) with this coverart & title. The recent title is the name of a track. See below pl. As LP here too. 😁
  5. Reminding myself, what an incredible artist he is (still is), and what an impact he has had on my musical enrichment. Still blows my mind to this day:
  6. One of my very favorite recent jazz albums, certainly my favorite of hers... Her upcoming album sounds like it will be quite different, with Cuban (iirc) influences, some vocals... Curious how that will be ...
  7. Today
  8. Thank you, John for this gem!!! Now, But Not Farewell
  9. That one plus this mash-up of 2 sessions:
  10. Hi everyone, I've been reading random threads on these boards for a couple of years, so thanks for the recommendations and interesting discussions. Finally made an account and hope it's alright to jump into a BFT! Let's see...just a few ideas. 2. Tune is Walkin'. (I see it's already fully identified above.) 5. Live recording of Hampton Hawes later in his career? (No, I see that's been falsified above.) 9. At first I thought of Bobby Timmons, but the pianist is too facile and the recording may be too modern. Benny Green? 10. Strong Basie vibes. Saxophonist a Lester Young disciple. (I see above it is indeed a Basie song.) 15. Stanley Cowell. Sounds like one of his ~90s trio recordings. (I was pretty confident about Cowell, but I see above that the song has been identified as Some Other Time, and I can't find anything online quickly of a recording of him playing it, so maybe not...)
  11. Melissa Aldana ā€œ12 Starsā€ Blue Note cd A very interesting album. Ms Aldana has been touring all over and I bet she is an even more confident player now.
  12. Tolle is built like Crochet, 6’6ā€ 250 lbs. I hope they bring him up sooner rather than later. Let him get his feet wet with some low leverage middle relief innings.
  13. Wow, still trying to understand what this is. First bought Point of Departure, and I am still trying to understand that record. Next, the second BN fellowship:
  14. Joyce ā€œAstronauta–Songs of Elisā€ WEA cd Jazzy Joyce with great collaborators.
  15. Red Sox better be smart and have a certain lefty pitcher make it all the way from High A to the Majors in one year. Leftie Payton Tolle has a 133/23 K/BB ratio in 91 2/3 innings across High A, AA and AAA. What could it hurt to get him to the Fens by Labor Day and see how his stuff plays? Possibly their biggest weakness is the bullpen after Aroldis Chapman and a power lefty in the mix can't hurt.
  16. That label seems to be defunct, but since it was initiated by Bill Evans' son, Evan Evans, I will assume that the releases were legit unless there is contradictory information. https://jazztimes.com/archives/label-watch-bill-evans-e3-records/
  17. Starting the morining off with Andrew Hill's 2nd and 3rd run at BN:
  18. There's no "fuss" really. I guess it's just about completeness. I would buy this new set if it had those two tracks. As it is now, I won't be buying it for the third time. I had the Mosaic set for years & upgraded to the Connoisseur 2-CD set when it came along. I see no reason to buy this new one at all. FWIW, they do belong on this new set and someone should have known this but, Blue Note lost that knowledge along the way. I'm surprised their Jazz Detective missed them.
  19. Jerry Gonzalez ā€œRhumba Para Monkā€ Sunnyside cd I always forget what a powerful listen this album is, and how much I enjoy playing it. There was a time when I obsessed over this music! One day it would be great to have an audiophile release of this.
  20. Carl Perkins: Memorial. Fresh Sound Records FSR-CD 99 [Spain 1990]
