  1. Past hour
  2. Doh! Another oversight on my part, John. My first choice would be The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 1. I need to listen to those Pablo recs some more. Which volume do you like best, Ken?
  3. This one surprised me, just uploaded: Eddie Bert/J.R. Monterose Quintet, Sept. 20, 1991 https://aviary.library.vanderbilt.edu/collections/2137/collection_resources/163541
  4. I celebrated twenty years as a Hot House contributor this very month. I've had some great opportunities to interview a number of jazz greats and rising stars. Chrys Roney, who purchased the magazine almost two years ago, is expanding the scope of the magazine and she needs additional writers. In addition to the long time print version in greater New York City, there is an online premium edition for subscribers that has been active and growing with bonus articles and reviews. She is working on creating new online content, including a jazz channel of programming by different hosts. If you would like to learn more, contact her at Chrys@hothousejazz.com, I am sure she will be glad to hear from you. Feel free to mention that you saw this post and spread the word.
  5. I was referring to Hutchfan's list, which includes many of Bud's musical children but not Bud Powell himself.
  6. Now playing: Craft reissue. Get by the ridiculous cheesecake cover and you'll discover some excellent music. Harold Land's playing is especially fine.
  7. Today
  8. Did you miss this subsection? A Bud selection was at the very top of it. BY “BEBOP,” I MEAN BUD POWELL
  9. That is a nice list but I would have expected to see some Bud Powell.
  10. $6 each or both for $10
  11. Vanessa Lillie: Blood Sisters
  12. The Morning Show - season finale
  13. Jacqueline Kerrod - Joe Morris: Morpeth Contemporary 2024. Relative Pitch Records RPR1222 [US 2025]
  14. Eliane Elias "Plays Live" Blue Note cd My copy of this has been missing for a while. I finally found it mixed in with some of Lucinda's cds. One of my favorite of Eliane's releases (I think I have them all!)
  15. Brr. It’s cold out there. Inside it’s nice. Starting off with another great piano trio recording on Muzak Japan cd. Del Ferro on piano, keyboard, and Fender Rhodes, Andre Vasconcellos on acoustic and electric bass, and Marcio Bahia on drums. Mike Del Ferro “Made In Brazil” Samui International/Muzak Japan cd (My copy has a different cover for which I have not found an image).
  16. While "Live" on Pye has not been reissued on CD, the Ronnie Scott's Jazz House label did release 3 additional tracks from that live date on a CD titled, "Playing Changes".
  17. Some great stuff in there.
