  3. I love the live shows on the bonus discs for this and the Reckoning deluxe edition. I recently picked up Joni Mitchell’s Archives 3 and 4 box sets and am digging into them again this afternoon. So much great music on these! Highly recommended if you’re already a Joni fan.
  4. What makes this particular case potentially tricky is that it's a Polish name, Garbarek's father was Polish ... So unless the pronunciations in the two languages coincide, it also depends on Jan's preferences which of the two pronunciations he prefers for his name...
  5. I've used this site for years and, for me, there's always a button with the triangle "play" icon. The recording is someone saying Yan GAR-bar-ek That means I had it almost exactly right; I would usually tend to say Yan Gar-BAR-ek.
  6. Today
  7. Thanks for participating and some very cogent commentary. Have a good nap on Thanksgiving, and don't smoke!
  8. I'd like to know about that as well, though I expect it is nice. DeFever is certainly a well-regarded mastering engineer (& musician).
  9. Great stuff! Wish RCA, like the Sonny Rollins RCA original albums box set, would treat Paul Desmond's albums the same way. I'd buy that set in a second. I have three of them and would scoop up the others in a nice deluxe original albums box set in a heartbeat.
  10. MUZA SX 1560 - Big Band Katowice " Music For My Friends" - rec. 1977
  11. Gotta be the coolist Bill Evans picture I've ever seen! Now (and I still like the Patrick Roques sleeve):
  12. Thanks Thom! I can do January!
  13. She is pretty mainstream, a bit more sedate at times than I think I would like, but her writing is interesting and she can play, hires good support. Now On to disc 3 of this excellent new reissue of two Bill Evans albums and many alternates/outtakes. “Haunted Heart: The Legendary Riverside Studio Recordings”

  15. Funny enough, I think King Japan jacked their own image of Bobby from Inner Glow and used another still from the same photo shoot for the sleeve of Obligue: Weren't these recordings like 8 years apart? Man, Bobby looked good.
  16. I've heard good things about her, so oughta do myself the favor of giving her a listen.
  17. yeah, I like that too -- have the original LP, but not heard the remaster (I don't think).
  18. Very nice! I saw him a few years later with his working quartet. Now: Association P.C. - Rock Around the Cock - MPS German original
  19. Interesting .. What's the main eras/periods covered in that book?
  20. I hope you got a good price as it is only $5 on the jazzology.com website.
  21. Thats great Kevin. Big fan of Andrew Hill. Truly a one of a kind wonder. Judgement was the last record I needed to obtain to complete my Blue Note Hill collection
  22. A tiny bit warmer this morning. It’s the time of year when a tiny bit is a bit bigger than months previous. Starting off the day with “Roxy Coss” self-titled, self-released cd This is my second copy as my first copy had a bad skip in the final track, and a visible scuff. So far this copy is perfectly fine; I really do like the music of Ms Coss.
  23. I saw Hill with his big band at Birdland and I had him sign this LP for me. It's hard to photograph something in a frame covered with glass.
