  2. Neil Charles “Dark Days” Jazz Now cd I took a punt for one of the 500 cd copies of this work because it reflects a work by one of my favorite authors, James Baldwin. I’m glad I did. A writer said of this performance (it was recorded live) “It refuses comfort.” That’s likely true for most listeners. It is challenging and intriguing.
  3. Pass, regardless of the 2 missing tracks. I have the Conn twofer and also rarely play it...lots of Ike recordings I go to far more often.
  4. yeah, I have those LPs -- very strong. Though at this point the reissue market is bloated, those albums are certainly deserving.
  5. If this CD set does not include the two missing tracks, I'm good with just keeping the 2005 2-CD set, which otherwise IMO is a perfect reissue.
  6. John Stowell - Golden Delicious (Inner City, 1977) with Claudio Roditi, Jim McNeely, Mike Richmond, Billy Hart, and Dom Um Romao
  7. I fully agree with both of your points, thanks!

  9. I've been waiting for this compilation to be released again so that Blue Note could finally rectify the missing last two tracks from these sessions ("Cry Me A River" & "Uptght"), which have only been released on a rare Japanese CD titled, "From Hackensack to Englewood Cliffs". Michael Cuscuna once told me that they missed those two tracks when he did the Mosaic box in 1987 and again when they re-did it for the Connoisseur 2CD release in 2005 but that he would try to get them out in the future. Looks like they missed them again. To be honest, I think the 2005 2-CD Connoisseur set was supposed to have these two tracks but someone screwed up during the mastering process and no one pulled that master.
  10. Since I don't have the Mosaic (or the 2005 BN release), I might be in on the game for the 2-CD set.
  11. Yes - I have these but still would like them as originally recorded. Besides that, the playing time would make it an LP issue just as well.
  12. Nice! Reminds me of Percy France's saxophone interludes for a series of Mike Hammer books-on-tape that were released from about 1988-92, except that he never got more than about 28 seconds of playing time, on the out-credits. Subscribing for sure. Here's a direct link to the page: https://www.youtube.com/@JazzfromDetroitFilm
  13. An official release of some of the live early-1960s material that Frank Tiberi recorded.

Denon is sitting on a lot of music which should be reissued, including some great 70's live Max Roach with Billy Harper.
  17. @mikeweil. Good call, that's the session that got Alice's overdubs for the Infinity album.
  18. https://store.bluenote.com/products/ike-quebec-the-complete-45-sessions-blue-note-tone-poet-series?variant=44466687082687 Color me surprised ... already issued by Mosaic, is the market that big for the LP treatment? I do love Ike but can't say I pull this out very often - the short playing times and not really the greatest organ behind him. I don't see this being a big seller but what do I know.
  19. Didn't know about the expanded reissue, thanks for the hint. Only had the Blue Moon reissue. Found a cheap copy from a German discogs seller and jumped at it. 😊

  21. Modern bossa with Miho’s gentle sweet singing and a small jazzy combo with great arrangements. I have their follow up release as well.
