2025 MLB Season Starting NOW!!!
Dan Gould replied to JSngry's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
Sorry Met fans but $350 million to one player just doesn't buy what it used to .... <green smilie here> (and its all the better that Francona is the manager of the team that benefits from the Mets largesse. In all seriousness, the Sox have their work cut out for them, and so do the Cubs but its nice to be able to watch October baseball with an interest deeper than "Die Yankees, Die". And @Patrick - what they accomplished this season is quite remarkable, whatever happens. They didn't just beat September deficit - they obliterated it. I hope the magic continues. - Today

Sad news. I liked Mike's piano playing very much. Not only do I have quite a few of his CD's, but saw him live a number of times in a variety of different sized groups.

And 80 total points at that.

OT rules are what's crazy. All that work and there's no winner, like a scrimmage.

I saw the reunion band live, unfortunately after Danny Thompson split. McShee was great, but the rhythm section was disappointing. What sent Pentangle apart was the jazz sensibility of their rhythm. No other band band like that. Later on I saw McShee and Renbourn as a duo, a friend had taken me to an obscure folk club down the Rhine. Wev had a glass of wine por beer after the gig, very nice people.

Crazy game.

“The Complete Roulette Dinah Washington Recordings” Mosaic Records disc 1 of 5 I love the sound Roulette produced on their records, almost without exception spacious and clear with a touch of warm room sound. I’ve neglected this box set too long, when I have listened to Dinah it has been the Emarcy/Mercury years mostly as I have all those complete sets Verve put out. Listening today the Billie Holiday influence hit me hard, but that’s not a bad thing and it’s not sheer imitation as I have encountered among others. There’s a greasy flavor to the arrangements for her and I like to sink back into that blue mood. 300×300 7.25 KB DavidF 2h Throwback time! Spinning one of the greatest live acoustic guitar albums ever recorded — Friday Night in San Francisco with Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, and Paco De Lucía. Three masters, one stage, pure magic. Wow. A tie.

-
The later albums are surprisingly good.
-
Maybe this is common knowledge but since moving to Harlem last year I discovered Rodgers and Hart grew up right next to each other.
-
I never really spent time with later Pentangle, but have and adore all the Transatlantic/Reprise albums.

Agreed. the three Pentangle box sets on Cherry Red are highly recommended purchases, superseding all other Pentangle releases: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/pentangle-the-albums-19681972-7cd-boxset https://www.cherryred.co.uk/pentangle-through-the-ages-19841995-6cd-clamshell-box-set https://www.cherryred.co.uk/pentangle-reunions-live-amp-bbc-sessions-19822011-4cd-clamshell-box
