Ike Quebec 45 Sessions Being Reissued - Vinyl & CD
Big Beat Steve replied to Dan Gould's topic in Re-issues
Yes, from all I've read before I realize it's like you said. But for a CONSCIENTIOUSLY programmed re-reissue that's no reason not to include them this time around IMHO. After all, as you confirm they WERE intended for marketing as 45s. Or was it a matter of playing time? (Which I somehow find hard to believe if there had been a will - considering that the set has 3 LPs). -

Ike Quebec 45 Sessions Being Reissued - Vinyl & CD
Kevin Bresnahan replied to Dan Gould's topic in Re-issues
Michael Cuscuna & I talked about these two tracks before the 2-CD set came out. He said that they weren't in the Mosaic box due to an oversight on his part. He believed that they should have been included. When the second release came out without them, I got the feeling that someone goofed when they pulled the master tapes for Ron McMaster and simply duplicated the songs on the Mosaic but Michael never flat-out said that. He never named names when there was a mistake like this, unless it was his fault. The thing about these two tracks was that while they made were for a 45 rpm release, they were cut the first day in RVG's new recording studio and not with any other tunes. That sort of "orphaned" them from the rest of the 45 rpm sessions. - Today

So it really is so that they now omitted those 2 missing tracks for the THIRD time? Beats me why ... All on the premise that these 2 tracks were not released originally on 45s so "for authenticity sake" there is no need to include them now because they strictly speaking were not part of his 45 discography? Regardless of what collectors might be craving for? Do they really need to ride the "upgrade to new format" or "milk new buyer segments" train THAT blatantly? -

Check THIS. FWIW, I have the 2 missing tunes on a cdr of Quebec "out takes". -
They'll include those two extra cuts when you buy the jukeboxes they're selling .

Agree on your critique on Epristrophy; however, it is the only RD I have from the Muse catalogue, so I cannot compare Davis' other releases on the label. This gem was also mentioned, found it for a $1 Outstanding!

This afternoon: Very good album with her own liner notes correcting some popular misconceptions about the use of recorders at the Berlin / Sanssouci court. The instrument was still played very often, despite the king's prominence of the transverse flute. Janitsch's pieces, it is now thought, were meant to be played with an alto recorder rather than a transverse flute. Very interesting. -
