The Black Ark is being reissued on LP again by Superior Viaduct Does anyone (perhaps Clifford?) know why Live At The Village Vanguard has never been reissued? Does the ownership differ from other Freedom releases? It surprises me that given the extent to which other Freedom recordings have been licensed and reissued multiple times in the US, Europe, and Japan over the years this one has never been taken on by anyone (Howard did self-release a CD-R in the 2000s). Surely it can't be lack of interest? Anyways, it's great to have Black Ark available again, but I'd love to finally be able to get a copy of this.

Thanks! Reading back through others' observations, I see a theme that I missed emerging. So could 6 be Dorothy Donegan? And could 12 involve Jane Ira Bloom in some capacity?

Photo of King Oliver’s Creole Jazz Band while on tour in Oakland, California in 1921. They were performing at an establishment called “The Entertainer Club”. Personnel from top to bottom: King Oliver (holding his cornet), Honore Dutrey (trombone), Ed Garland (bass), Johnny Dodds (clarinet), Lillian “Lil’” Hardin (piano) and Baby Dodds (drums).

in some cases rewriting a story is an offence, have no clue about if that's the case. The Shining is also different from the book but i still like it ! I believe they mention it is based on the Novel.

Thanks! I only have a Japanese import CD with microscopic illegible liner notes. Maybe I should buy the New World reissue for these excellent notes.

I came across this CD in a largely rock record store nearly 20 years ago, so I got it for a steal. This record is out of this world bonkers; hypnotic, yet balls out. After listening, I still don't know what to make of it. Color me impressed! PS, ie, callin' Clifford Thornton, guessing you may know some history behind what label this record was originally recorded on, and what the original sleeve art looked like.
