  1. Past hour
  2. Bette Midler - Cool Yule (Columbia). This is a very well done Christmas CD. Midler's voice is in in great form & the backing musicians, from a string orchestra to a big band, are all very good. As I listen to this, I find myself wondering why it never really got the playtime that a lot of other Christmas CDs made back then (2006) did. Maybe because she was already in her early 60s by then and radio wanted youngsters? I am still shaking my head after reading that she turned 80 this year. I had no idea she was 80.
  3. From his numerous posts over the years, I would not have figured Brownie as someone who always listened to free jazz.
  4. wow.
  5. @neveronfriday Thanks very much for all your posts about Guy.

  7. Chet Baker - The Sesjun Radio Shows (Out of the Blue/T2)
  8. I don't "get" most of Lanthimos films. Just me, I suppose.
  9. You should get them soon, I ordered mine from Resonance and got them Thursday.
  10. I ordered both of the new Kirk releases on Resonance. Waiting for them to arrive.
  11. Joe Henderson, but I'm not typing the title of the movie. Here's the IMDB link. He plays Lee opposite Fred Williamson. There's a discussion around a fire that is probably his biggest scene. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070721/?ref_=fn_t_2
  12. Rahsaan Roland Kirk “Vibrations in the Village: Live at the Village Gate” Resonance cd Ah, it’s been too long since I had a new to me Kirk to listen to! 13. Thanks! BTW: As websites are easily translated today (in case you don't know French), I found the following 2 links some members here might find interesting as well (the first one includes a photo from the memorial service): Hommage: Guy Kopelowicz L’ancien chef d’AP Photo à Paris est mort à 85 ans Hommage: Guy Kopelowicz Edit: The first one has some fascinating info about Guy's life and work, incl. some things here and there many might never have heard before, the second one is mostly a remembrance written by his son.
  14. Gunter Hampel - Cavana Lee Hampel - Steve Swell: Holy Lights + Human Rights. Birth Records birth 131222 [Germany 2014]
  15. Remarkable. Mesmerized by hearing (and looking) at the period keyboard alone.
  16. December 6 Steve Swell - 1954 Saw him live at APEX in Göttingen, invited by Gunter Hampel to play with him in his band
  17. AFAIK Monk never wrote down changes. He wanted you to improvise on the tune, not the changes.
  18. Incredible movie about the Stasi and what it did to people.
  19. One of my favorite composers.
