He is a sideman on the early Hank Mobley Sextet BN. I have it as part of the Mosaic Mobley '50s BN set. When I get off work I'll see if he's on any other albums in that Mosaic. In the esoterica department, there are some rehearsal tracks with Jenkins on the Sun Ra - The Eternal Myth Revealed box set on Transparency. Disc 5 iirc. They date back to 1950s Chicago.

What Classical Music Are You Listening To?

On my album cover it is written that it is a female singer Chubby Newsome, and that she sounds quite under the weather on it, because she might have had a few.... Anyway, that vocal on Embraceable You sounds horrible to me. It“s only rescued by Bird, Bud and Fats, who has a beautiful sound on it, and it“s a rare item where he plays a ballad.

I have that one album on BN, the only one on which Dannie Richmond is a drummer for a BN session. And it is possible he is a sideman on another, maybe on one of those early Lee Morgans or Hank Mobleys.

Strange.... I know "I Told You So" as my favourite George Cables Composition.....š I love it, so great music, I like this period most, and the first year of his comeback, thatĀ“s the strongest music ! Usually I am not a fan of West Coast or in that case West Coast revival, but this one I always did like, maybe because it has a more modern sound with Harvey Mason, Bob James and Ron Carter. ItĀ“s a thing that I really like and spin. And maybe itĀ“s just a generation thing, that the original Cool Jazz from the West Coast is not my thing. This one is much more powerful, it has the right drive that makes me happy. And anyway, I like those Westcoasters Baker, Mulligan Art Pepper mostly from the later years, the 70Ā“s and 80s. Sounds much more interesting to me.

Lucio Capede and Marc Baron - My Trust In You Marc Baron has been a good recent find. From the more creative end of electro acoustic improv.

Indeed. Noted this in the reveal post.

I visited the Abbey Road studios when a friend was recording a soundtrack there. He was in a modern studio but took me to see the studio the Beatles used. (Studio 2?) They had kept it the same as it had been in 1969 so they had some sense of history. I don't think there was a gift shop at the time. -

Many thanks to everyone who weighed in. In the end, price made a decision for me. I managed to find a copy of the Big Band Decca set for $19 a disc but also from a seller in Italy, which is where I live and often help me pull the trigger on bigger purchases. Looking forward to listen in tandem with the 2020 Ricky Riccardi book :-).
