Considering his show in Charlotte as well but only for a chance to see him live. I have no idea what to expect.

He usually posts the band members on his website, but has not yet done so for his July concerts. The last time I saw him, a couple of years ago, he did play the vocoder/keytar (or whatever), which was definitely pretty annoying but did not last too long (though it seemed like forever).

I really enjoy her relative vibratoless interpretations.

He's coming to Portland, ME too and I'm thinking about skipping it. It's happening August 1st and I'm pretty sure that I'll be out of the area then.

I'm a big fan of both her early stuff and her very different 70's recordings. I never put together that she and Roy were siblings!

Alas, I also suffer from this syndrome and my wife is adept at requesting I play a particular cd whose location is unknown. My solution: when I locate the cd, rip it onto my external drive that plugs directly into my Oppo 205 and while I don't particularly like the filing system the player utilizes, locating a cd now takes seconds and all is well.

Just realized both In Paris albums have "On The Alamo." There's not too much difference between 1956 and 1961 recordings, but this standard seems one that Sims was particularly fond of.

I dig Irene's singing. Listen to Better Than Anything here. Share your favorites/stories about Kral. I also dig this album: SO well-recorded too.

I passed on the last time Herbie came through town, but I am leaning toward going this time. It's possible I've already sat too long on ordering tickets. Anyway, any feedback on his current touring group and repertoire and whether he still breaks out the "keytar" or I guess it's the vocoder would be appreciated. I just saw a thread elsewhere that he toured for 2+ years on the exact same set list, so I wonder if this tour will be the same or something different.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'm in for the Brooklyn Academy and especially the 1985 Montreux (magic happened there on a regular basis) CD's. Hesitant on the CD with Monty Alexander, seems like both pianists would have to compromise their styles to possibly mesh.
