  1. Past hour
  2. RIP. I recently watched him in some Auger/Oblivion Express Youtube videos.
  3. Yep. Next up: Two Muse LPs on one 32 Jazz CD.
  4. Today
  5. I dug up the book and indeed there's no mention (AFAICT) of Parker playing with "Downtown" artists. Probably didn't fit in with the flow/theme due to the factors Jim mentioned.
  6. That's a damn good record.
  7. “Dizzy Gillespie and the United Nations Orchestra” cd
  8. Schubert - Piano Trio No.1 and No.2
  9. R.I.P.
  10. Enjoyed his work with Auger and Santana. RIP.
  11. Blumenthal’s comments reminded me of this comment in the Pittsburgh Courier regarding Coltrane’s performance at the June 1965 Pittsburgh Jazz Festival, “John Coltrane soaring toward a private ionosphere of expression and leaving many behind, though some followed his trajectory”
  12. This was the session of 17 April 1956. But Bear Family was "only" the reissue label of the 80s. The recording was made for the "X" label (RCA subsidiary). But all 3 tracks recorded that day remained in the can until they were released for the first time by Bear Family (BFX 15257) in 1986. In 1993 French RCA reissued those RCA sessions on CD.
  13. 😂 (was refering to the hidden Adam O’Farrill record!)
