I can't be the only one who was introduced to latin music by Colon's Fania records with Lavoe. A huge world of music that he opened up.

It is being reissued next month (March) by Decca on vinyl. Another in Decca's excellent British Jazz Explosion series. It's on the Dusty Groove website and on several British sellers sites too. Very welcome reissue and kudos to Tony Higgins for making this possible. https://www.dustygroove.com/item/168238/Neil-Ardley-Ian-Carr-Don-Rendell:Greek-Variations-Other-Agean-Exercises

Nothing really to add to what has already been said. Like others I have a countless number of his LP productions on Prestige, Onyx and Xanadu. Thanks for all these productions , cover art and all the other contributions. A life well lived. RIP.

Did Shelly Manne ever record a Latin album? Or any latin tracks? I'm struggling to remember any. I am listening to the original Jazz a la Lighthouse record and there is an at best semi successful (from the pov of the drums) track with congas.

R.I.P. to a very significant contributor.

Yes, Leo Wright. I guess he was still signed to Atlantic/Vortex at that point?

yes, Leo Wright, who would have been on Atlantic at the time.

Damn, what a life indeed. RIP.

Someone is etc. On Little Johnny C. Maybe Leo Wright?
-
Also on a couple of Wayne Shorter BN albums. Due to a restriction in his Impulse! contract.

Couldn't say it better. R.I.P.

Great loss. Thanks for the insight and the quality ... RIP
