As good as it gets ❤️❤️❤️ .... -
What rock music are you listening to? Non-Jazz, Non-Classical.

Good enough is a good way of putting it, in my view, although I know that the Butterfield has fans here. I thought that the Butterfield was the more successful blues record, whereas the Mayall one was interesting for other reasons. -

What live music are you going to see tonight?
BFrank replied to mikeweil's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Cool. A lot more stages, for sure. Glad to know that it's still "real". For me, I don't do large outdoor shows or festivals anymore. I've been enjoying the SXSW/Big Ears format of multiple small to mid-size indoor venues scattered around a walkable downtown area. -

Not aware of another one, though there's an excellent book about the AAF which you likely already know about (and is admittedly not a bio, but certainly an in-depth account of Miller and the transition from the civilian band to the military band: Next To A Letter From Home: Major Glenn Miller's Wartime Band Recommended to others as well who might have an interest in Miller and/or this particular orchestra, which was an extraordinary one.

You really hear "Cuban" in Montara? I hear Hollywood, not Havana.

Now spinning: Sabicas - Flamenco Virtuoso (MHS); licensed by CSP I just noticed an odd coincidence. Like the Fajardo LP I posted above, this Sabicas LP was also originally released on Columbia (see below): I understand that Sabicas was a huge influence on Paco de Lucía. Listening now, it's not hard to understand why.

German Jazz on MPS/Mood/Inakustik re-issues, etc
barnaba.siegel replied to StarThrower's topic in Re-issues
Oh yea, bought this LP few weeks ago. Very fine jazz-rock, I really like his playing style - a bit McLaughlin-like, but not too expansive or excessive. His second album is also interesting, a significant departure from the Mahavishnu/RTF-like music. It's much more electronic, moody and krautsy. It was re-released on CD in 2016 by Chickadisc and I've got a chance to write liner notes, based on an interview with Jasper van't Hof (great guy!). -
You can't overlook this gem, the only film ever scored by Denny Zeitlin:
