The RCA series was recorded from 1967 to 1971. It appears Badura-Skoda re-recorded 5 of the sonatas (664, 845, 850, 959 & 960) again in 1971. These versions are included in the set as discs 10-12.

This might be my favorite piano piece. My all time favorite is the Schnabel. I also like Klien, Wuerhrer and at least a couple of Rubinstein recordings as well as maybe a dozen others. This week I broke down and ordered the Paul Badura-Skoda set of the "complete(d)" sonatas. I ignored these in when issued because he and his wife were dreaded customers in my record store in Madison, WI. It seems Paul didn't like his playing and re-recorded the big sonatas. I have been listening and at first pass still prefer Klien for stereo. The Rubinstein records are fascinating because one was recorded after an angry exchange with his son who just "came out". Anyway, this sonata can be a life changing event.

The K2 is the mono master.

The mono tapes of "Monk's Music" are superior to the stereo, especially if you like Wilbur Ware.

My wife Ann recently had an old root canal break, had the roots removed, a bone graft and a pin installed for $4000. In 90 days she gets a crown for another couple grand. Sigh.

Yes, I have been aware for 2 days. Somehow the DNS was corrupted and it can take up to 72 hours to repair it. I had to "unconnect" from it to start the process. Thanks. I did post about this on Facebook.

The entire lp is from Black & White. There was a time in the earliest days of compact discs when Pickwick was putting out interesting compilations of B & W titles.

I always preferred Earl Spencer for this stuff. I have the IAJRC lp this was copied from.
