    Hawk

Hawkins was always combative with other tenor players. I can easily imagine him asking for Bud to do battle. FWIW, Bud had immense respect for Hawkins. Check him out, doing battle with Getz and Gonsalves on The Way You Look Tonight - here:
  9. Whenever confused I smile and move on, if possible. :-)
  10. Sad. I used to have his Haydn sonatas in those Decca boxes. Never really connected with is compositions. Not necessarily his fault.
  11. Is this a Bell issue?
  12. Bunch of interesting leftovers of good quality. Not bad, not great. After buying the originals as they were released, this filled in some blank spaces. I was happy to get the lp and ultimately bought the cd. If you have deeper connections, cherish them.
  13. Few things more disgusting than leaking saxophonists.
  14. "On Demand!!" is the way Miles would want it.
  15. I know that Bob Sunenblick has been searching for these recordings for over a decade and this is his first "strike". After his success finding jazz treasures, I suggest it is reasonable to accept his word on the groups search.
  16. The Pierre Monteux RCA box is currently available at Amazon Canada for 92.65 CDN which translates to 87.76 US including shipping.
  17. Wonderful.
  18. Forgot that angle.
  19. Did Manfred get his?
  20. Up, up. Responses please.
  21. Saw that. He was a fine gentleman as far as I know. He seemed like one. G'bye Dean.
