  1. Sorry, just the title of the thread gave me the heebie-jeebies.
  2. I assume BGP/ACE are legit and just license stuff with a pretty all-over-the-place approach. Their catalog doesn't exactly appear well-curated. They bought the catalog and control it. They do a GREAT job with Blues oriented material.
  3. A peanut is not a nut.
  4. Pharoah Sanders Pharrell Williams William Farrell too slow responding to Paul
  5. G'bye Ervin.
  6. Bobby is usually at his best with a partner.
  7. I am about 68 states away and wish you the best.
  8. Cagney Lacey 10 32 k (it is a band)
  9. Not sure about current versions of Charles Mingus Presents Charles Mingus but the early cds sounded like crap. The story told was that the original stereo masters were missing and an inferior tape was used. Because of this problem Mosaic used the original mono tapes for the set. They sound dandy.
  10. US Amazon currently has 2 copies of the big RCA Toscanini box (85 discs) for $76.97.
  11. Have it and have not played it. I got it because he is one of the great american classical artists. I already had over half of the set. No more thoughts to offer.
  12. I hope folks take the attention given her death to explore the Fellini works. Much more interesting unless you are a sociologist.
  13. That can happen.
  14. Many thanks for this, Uli! Beautifully played, great sound and picture, creative ‘contemporary jazz’ without being weird or off-putting. If one pays attention and goes with it, I can’t imagine anyone not being pulled along. I watched it on my TV hookup to YouTube...looks great on a big screen, and the sound is beautifully done, too. Intensely played by a real trio: Michel Portal, reeds/accordion; Bruno Chevillon, bass; Daniel Humair, drums. (It’s a perfect illustration of why I include Humair on my list of Top 5 drummers). (As an aside, is Portal playing a bandoneon-type of accordion/concertina?) I recall George Shearing saying "A gentleman is someone who can play accordion, but doesn't". And further, "Perfect Pitch" is when you throw an accordion in the garbage and hit a banjo". Any more 'cordeen jokes? What is the difference between and accordion and banjo? It takes longer for the banjo to burn.
  15. Jack is selling it for $15 at http://myiesstore.com/jackdejohnette/product/made-in-chicago-pre-order-cd/ It is $14.99 at Amazon right now. Nice video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edLWmyTegvk
  16. Just what we need.
  17. I was thinking of the Elliott Carter piano concerto by Ursula Oppens and Michael Gielen and the two recordings they made, first on New World and another on Arte Nova. Can't find the date of the first (New World) but the second is from 1992. Have not listened to either recently but remember the earlier recording as less flowing, but maybe more engaging. Can you post other comparisons?
  18. Not me. Maybe someone else.
  19. Ann and I appreciated the responses. Thank you.
  20. Today is the arrival day of my wonderful life partner Ann. I first saw her when I was under 10, lusted after her about 5 years later and married her in 1963. We have had a "regular life" with children and problems. She has been there the whole time to point me in the correct direction. Many decades of thanks to Ann Nessa.
  21. Time Machine for me.
