More Threadgill is only good for us. Have not seen him in years (have talked on the phone) but always miss his gigs somehow.

As I think about the subject I am digging through my memories for bands assembled for the Chicago Jazz Festival. First is my grouping of Randy Weston, Johnny Griffin, Richard Davis and Art Blakey. Second might be a Jimmy Smith jam session with Bill Hardman, Junior Cook, Lou Donaldson and Ray Crawford - we tried for Blakey again but Jimmy wound up bringing Kenny Dixon. Maybe more later.

The issues I remember were drawn from the Black Lion/Freedom catalog.

I have no way to calculate the number.

I am now feeling so battered by both professional and college teams I am about to swear off sports as part of my "entertainment package". Been going to Cubs and Bears games for years and it might be hard to decouple. Really difficult to leave when both teams have new management - oh, I might have heard that before.

Dow has lots of baggage. I just like the commercial.

Met Jack Somer back in the day. Middle weight corporate record company guy with jazz as an interest IIRC. There were a bunch of those - they thought the "interest in jazz" would impress the suits above. As far as I know he did no harm and did some good.

That was what I thought.

But I thought the JSP Patton was supposed to sound better. (Can't remember where I read this.) Never heard that. Anxious for more info.
