  1. I've listened to the first two discs while working - not really carefully - and it sounded good.
  2. The Shearing Quintet was the first "name" group I experienced "in person" back in the '50s. G'bye George.
  3. I was reminded of JR Monterose telling me he used to run into Roy in the kid's department of Macy's while shopping for clothes. Really.
  4. Jim, watch your email box - your pm box must be filled - or I am blocked.
  5. She's no Slam Stewart. Look for her to lose the bass in the future. "What's her hand doing?" It's looking for a pocket. A star is being born.

  15. The guy's a fan. He's promoting his favorites. Nothing wrong with that. OTOH he's a limited guy. Live and let live.
  16. The first online review is in: Here.
  17. This has also been covered in Chris Kelsey's blog http://chriskelsey.com/blog/ . I have not read this thread for a couple of reasons - I read the stuff on Chris's blog AND I had a nasty confrontation with Murray a few years ago and don't care what he thinks. Time for all to "move on folks, nothing to see here".
  18. You also have to understand the time/work it takes to get the tapes transferred properly AND get the documentation done correctly.
  19. Because he knew/thought he didn't have rights and as a result JR didn't make any money.
  20. I found one in 1966 - still sealed. Sadly, I sold it to finance my cds.
