  1. DUH! to all. Seems lots of personal masturbation and little ..... I blame the"art". You other guys have excuses.
  2. Elvis was my personal/emotional start in music. I had been in church choir, heard all the "standards" by Sinatra, etc on the radio but he riveted me. Elvis, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash made music personal to me. I was not yet a "teen" but was moved. The reaction against Little Richard, by a Des Moines dj, made me pay special attention to black performers (Thanks to Don Bell). This inspiration and the transition to Armstrong and Ellington took about 2 years. I still really enjoy early Elvis and cringe as he "went off track" in the late '50s.
  3. When did you do the comparison? Is this ongoing research?
  4. and many, many, many, more.
  5. That would have been Jack Noren.
  6. fine, but not a really good exhibition of his talents.
  7. That's how some Americans identify the creeps.
  8. Sorry, I don't have any substitutes. Long form interviews should be revealing but Mr. Smiley seems unprepared (or uninformed) as well. While watching a Rose interview I always have the feeling he's working from a series of questions prepared by "staff" and doesn't have a clue about the questions or answers. Many times his follow-ups reveal this.
  9. I'm sure you file yours by corporate entity. I'd be curious which manufacturing country is positioned first within this system.
  10. How the heck does one interpolate an appearance on Charlie Rose into anything positive? Rose seems to be THE biggest phony on American television. Sometimes his interviews are good comedy.
  11. Strange reaction to a post beginning "On a serious note".
  12. Currently 53 and rising in (extremely) west Michigan.
  13. I imagined her clapping along with an Arnett Cobb performance.
  14. All the material is on the 2 cds. 35 tracks lasting over 111 minutes. Vol one has a bonus track from the early sessions and the second disc contains the two later lps.
  15. I'd have rather "shanked" Shank.
  16. Looks like you be all alone out there.
  17. I'll be really impressed when I read you've doubled your current age.
  18. Would be helpful if you could point out the difference beyond "needles" and auditory recognition.
  19. Thank God for Dr Phil! Now I can sleep tonight. Anybody know if Opra has booked a flight westward?
  20. You accept either LP or vinyl?
  21. I have a US BMG/RCA issue of Strictly Powell from 1995.
