  1. Yes. There was only one pressing. Braxton decided to let it go.
  2. One of the greatest Australian jazzmen. I thought he was a poet.
  3. I should stop posting first thing in the morning...or at all. It's a reference to the thread title: Peanut Butter 2111 Salmonella - Anybody Affected? Check Your Pantry Right.
  4. Bound to happen. Anyone remember Ern Malley?
  5. Which one are you on? Currently in the middle of the orchestra box. Have I mentioned the sides are labeled incorrectly?
  6. As I said in another thread, I'm working through the Braxton Aristas.

    Don Cherry

Truer words have never been broken.
  8. Absolutely agree. The original tape is a work in progress, not the product.
  9. Other than the length of my post (and maybe some bolding), I thought my take was rather "relaxed" -- all in all. I even gave you the option to suggest that we let it sit for a few more years. You did ask me for advice.
  10. Please relax.
  11. He's just trying to get attention beyond his "fan base". Let it go.
  12. Great cd. But I have an original 78. The cd/lp transfer robs the original of it's bass. The cd sounds good enough to make it the preferred medium but sometimes I play an original for the folks. Edit to say I meant I have a number of the original 78s. The reduced bass is most noticable in the date by the Kansas City Seven. Do not let this comment deter you from the current cd. It is dandy.
  13. Atlantic recordings were not usually "state of the art". They did what they did and I won't pay for "upgrades" either. Much of the music is great. edit for typo
  14. Don Joseph "One of a Kind".
  15. Salty Dogs Wayne Jones Wayne Cochran
  16. I'd issue them in a New York minute. The Cherry date is wonderful and the Lacy is FINE!
  17. That's why I enjoy him. That's also why I enjoy you. The Clem "persona" is "smarter than you". The Chewy "persona" is "dumber than you". Hard to imagine both of you in the same world, but then I say "yup".
  18. More than most, I await the release of this book with great anticipation. Early on, George said he needed to interview me and it never happened - we had talked about those times though. At the funeral of Malachi Favors he brushed off my concerns. A few of my friends have read the manuscript and say it is very interesting.
  19. From the incomplete listing on Amazon (disc 10 is ignored), disc 2 through disc 9 track 12 are the complete master takes from Nov 22, 1935 through Sept 16, 1941. Disc one and the rest of the disc 9 tracks are Musicraft titles from 1944 and 1945. The Musicrafts seem to be incomplete and out of order. I can only hope the listing is in error.
  20. Ooo - that looks good. Amazon says it doesn't have everything, but I've found a track list and will compare. Thanks very much. MG Where is that track list? Never mind. I found it on the German Amazon site.
  21. Snoop Dog Foots Thomas Tommy Dorsey
  22. Is it possible James could finally be buried with Anna Nicole Smith?
  23. And that way Lennie's family gets some money. You got a problem with that?
  24. Back to the Drew recording - I'll never forget the day Ann came home from a garage sale (1974) with NM copies of Undercurrent, Parlan's Speakin' My Piece and Monk's Brilliant Corners. IIRC, the total price was under $6.
  25. and you can find thos discs at....................................
