Chuck,
I sent you money a little while ago for the Bowie/Congliptious- is it possible that Paypal doesn't have your email address correct on where to send notification? I've always gotten a notice from them whenever I get any $.
Just checked and your money is there. No email. I checked my profile earlier today and all was correct. I wish they would respond to my query.
Since listing the Japanese cds in another thread I've had a few PayPal payments. In the past (including last night) I have received a message from PayPal telling me I have money. Today I have received funds with no notice from them. I only knew 'cause one member emailed to ask for the shipment to another address. Then I found other payments. I have contacted PayPal by email with no response. Anyone else ever have this problem?
This should also be a notice to anyone sending me funds - let me know it happened.
Buy 'em all and learn via the bank account.
In some cases you can "learn" to appreciate your purchases. Sometimes not. Lesson learned anyway.
Buy, learn, buy, learn, etc.
I have a nostalgic fondness for that cover too (since it was my first issue) but it misrepresented Roscoe's painting and I eventually replaced it with a more accurate scan. Hey, I spent another $1000 bucks on this - any questions about my "lack of funds"?
Mostly terrific with some bad lapses. The rhythm section and Gilmore are fantastic. The Night in Tunisia is a personal favorite. A mono pressing is the best way to hear the music.
For anyone missing the set, those not wanting that much music by the band and for "nutso collectors" I have obtained a limited quantity of the following Japanese cds (from my licensee Bomba):
nessa ncd-1 Lester Bowie "Numbers 1&2"
nessa ncd-2 Roscoe Mitchell Art Ensemble "Congliptious"
nessa ncd-5 Roscoe Mitchell Art Ensemble "Old/Quartet"
Each disc has "bonus" material. The masters are the same as the AE 1967/68 box set.
These discs are available for $15 each under previous terms. If you need more info, contact me at nessarecords@charter.net .
edit for stupid typo.
More "fine" arguements wit other statements in the post, BUT I love reading Brendel. It gives much more pleasure than later "mannered" recordings but I do have a soft spot for the Vox stuff. Not all of it is interesting but much of it is.
I have both Cora lps. The second is called The Healers. I prefer both of them to the Pausa. Absolutely nothing wrong with the Pausa, I just prefer the Coras.
The Healers - Cora 02

1. The Healers (9:08)
2. Blue Antillais (7:09)
3. Blue Moses (13:38)
4. Nite in M'Bari (10:17)
5. A Prayer For Us All (7:55)
6. Nite in Medina (7:02)
