  1. Sorry, I've been sulking a bit after feeling the result of a "back-handed compliment". I was introduced to reggae by Desmond Decker and the Aces in 1975. I met Tommy Silverman (Tommy Boy) around 1979/80. How old were you then?
  2. Me too. Back in the day I checked out the lps as they were issued (listening booths folks) and never purchased a one. The guys could play but so could my college friends. Bought the 2 live cds cheap from BMG and won't bat an eye at the big box. Life is too short, music is too big, bread is too short, blah, blah, blah.
  3. All of this could be answered with a few days in the city. If you want rewards from Chicago, spend some time there and see what you are dealing with. By remote control you could be walking into a disaster.
  4. Sorry, I find this condescending. I might have spent time with all of these musics and made a judgement.
  5. Lemme get this straight - he needs a new joint and somebody registered late. Is there some sort of penalty for late registration? All of this is beyond my caring.
  6. So, give details if you have 'em.
  7. Of more interest (at least to me) is the alternate of Konitz's Yesterdays. I have the 78 and the Konitz solos are very different and Miles comes in at the end of one, but not the other.
  8. Lover was not on the original Swingville but was added to the Prestige reissue lp.
  9. Don't know the engineer but it was produced by Leonard Feather on the West Coast - probably LA.
  10. The early "east coast" recordings were very "unwhite". You can't be talking about those. Then he moved to California.............................................
  11. Gotta check out the New Jazz date for Al Francis if nothing else! At the time of issue, I bought the New Jazz, Candid and PJ lps and had big hopes for Mr. Ellis. The subsequent big band dates were such a disappointment it has taken me 40 years to "warm to them".
  12. How 'bout a closeup of a pixel?
  13. Just let your hair grow and you will look like Lee.
  14. How much money you gonna send my way for the ultimate "People In Sorrow"?
  15. How many bedrooms? I have to admit to seeing them about 4 times when in high school. They were always "hip" and musical. I sang in a school quartet and double quartet at the time. I have fond memories but don't think I'd spend more than $15 to go down memory lane.
  16. Yes, Jim is bad. Who's next. Can't be Randy, he's a drummer, not a musician. Joe - I don't think so.
  17. The problem is Mosaic would have to track down the importers and sue them for bringing in "pirated" recordings. They also would need to get lawyers to write all the stores with this product - your neighborhood store or Amazon. Uptown spent over $10,000 doing this for the Mingus cd and there is NO WAY this paid off. Best advice is "if it smells bad, step away".
  18. Isn't Canada about 4th to do anything?
  19. Crap!!!!! I thought we'd get to blindfold Noj and subject him to testing.
  20. Higher class literature than mine. Just reading Fosters.
  21. To make up for your failings, send Mosaic gift certificates to the earlier posters.
  22. As I said, beer bottle labels.
  23. Beer bottle labels.
  24. For all the people who don't like singers. ←
