Indent and Blue-J's were the only records issued. In spite of the numbers, Indent was recorded and issued first. I think Blue-J's was first offered for sale at a CT event/festival at Columbia in 1974. That's where I got my copy. I later bought around 300 from him for the record store chain I worked for. I know he hoped to issue a Smithsonian performance (same quartet) of a piece called Parade. By '77 this plan (and Unit Core) were history and I was going to issue Parade. As often happens, a "manager" fucked up the deal. A couple of years later Cecil asked what happened to our "deal" and when I explained he said "Always talk to ME". My error. I know a couple of years before Unit Core existed, an ad was run in Coda offering a private issue of a solo performance called Cathedral. My friend Terry Martin sent off a check and no record (or records - it might have been a double) materialized.

Attention KC folks - short notice

OK, here's the deal as I know it. We leave when I send this. We plan on arriving late afternoon - rehearsal dinner early evening - some place called Brio. Then - If we are not "dead" plan on checking out the Blue Room. We will check in with Tom during the day to see if that still flies. A late breakfast/brunch sounds great too - the wedding isn't 'til 6:00 Sat nite so we have some "wiggle room". Hope to see y'all. -

I'll be back here later in the day when our schedule is firmer. The only instruction I have from Ann is "We have to do ribs sometime". She's still clinging to memories of Bryant's in the late '70s. -
Last I heard, I was leaving this place.

I talked to Tom about this earlier in the year but here is the deal. Ann and I will arrive in KC late Friday. We are there for a nephew's wedding on Saturday. Anyone available for drinks or other stuff on Fri nite or early on Sat, get in touch via email to cnessa@earthlink.net . We will be staying at the Hotel Phillips. Once again, sorry about the short notice. Until about 9:00 tonight I thought we would be dealing with my 88 year old father and his health problems. He called and said he wasn't going, so............

Doncha hafta be there to make good on all the promised drinks? Best of luck with the new addition. -
Chuck what other Uptown etc. vinyl do you have for sale ? ← No time to make a comprehensive list right now. I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow night/Friday morning. I will compile a detailed one (not very long) when I return. I'll be back on the 20th. It would be wise to remind me at that time. Anyone wanting to get an order in before I leave has a little time. Don't delay.

Bass plays 8 notes before the band hits on the cd version - about 3 seconds.

We took our daughter (Carla) to hear the band in Ann Arbor (she's a lurker here now) . She tried to organize her group of friends (about 15) to go to the last Baker's gig but they all wanted to go the the fest downtown. She vows they will be at this gig. I'm sure she will hit you up for a round. -
Don't know the origin but the first lp was 2701 and 2728 is where the cd issues began. 2727 is a Claudio Roditi date. I have some vinyl if you want it.

Bob Sunenblick (label owner) an MD based in Montreal is a dedicated "collector type". He has a unique knack for finding stuff, but not enough time to really run a label and sometimes an "unclear" view of ultimate value. This is a common failing of fans starting out as collectors of "rare" recordings. About 10 years ago, when he was based in the NY/NJ area and I was an Uptown distributor, he called me to say he was moving to Canada, wanted to keep the label in the US and didn't know what to do. I said I could handle his inventory and shipping so he could keep a US address. Over the years I have become a "trusted advisor" and help with the production of projects. I have had some hand in the last 17 releases. This varies from selecting material/takes, listening to masterings, suggesting changes, saying "no" to some projects, pushing others. Bob pays my real expenses and my only financial return is what I manage to sell myself. I undoubtedly lose in this deal, but I love having a chance to shape these projects. I hope this helps.

Suddenly he's Mr. Zoologist. ← IIRC, an old girlfriend drove a Toyota Cervidaen! It was a cool car. Nice nipples too.
-
I sold these in 1991 for over a thousand each - to a friggin' dealer.
-
Geez, I thought this might be about a long awaited reissue of the Federal Smokey Smothers sides.
-
Maybe acquiring.

You "animal" fans are all alike.

I was searching for GERALD WILSON.

I think Concord is busy figuring out how to dub in vocals by Tony Bennett, Norah, etc. When that shit is straightened out, we will have 'em.
-
Mike, would you have thought of George?

Hey Moose - listen to the Diz/Bird - want to see those bovine (right species?) nipples stand erect.
